Gender vs age
Well that's a good point. Your gender doesn't tell me anything about you other than your gender. I'm assuming since my comic is mostly about a relationship and a young single girl that it would cater to women more than men (there's no nudity except for a strip where she is getting dressed).Nutcracker wrote:I'm a girl... but it still doesn't tell you who I am and what comics I like. I'm more interested in knowing, for example how old my readers are, or how many of them has their own comics. Why care about genitals?kissingkerie1 wrote:I can't say I'm exactly worried about, but isn't it basic to identify what your audience/market might be?
But it's interesting that you make a distinction between gender and age. What does the age of your readers tell you about them? Gender and age must tell us something about our markets, don't you think or why would there be so much market research by advertisement companies?

I would be curious to know whether the people who read my comics are predominantly male or female... My story is predominantly about women, there's only a few male characters... Probably half compared to women, and that's counting characters that recur in more than one comic and speak more than one line. But on the other hand, there are boobs.

Yeah, but they're not Wonder Woman boobs. Your comic definitely feels like a woman made it, and that women would like it. That's not a knock.
And of course gender is important. Women and men think differently, just like thirty year olds think differently than ten year olds. Ever wonder why JK Rowling doesn't publish under her full first name? Or why Hole had more female fans than Nirvana? Whether it's socialized or it's instinct, the differences between men and women certainly go past physical.

Heh, I actually just..."bought" that album a few hours ago. I shall give it a good listen. I thought Celebrity Skin was a top notch album, but I thought that it may have been mostly due to being produced by Billy Corgan, as a lot of tracks had a Smashing Pumpkins-vibe.yeahduff wrote:Well, not anymore, but they kicked a whole lot of ass. Courtney Love may be a strung out lowlife, but so was her husband. Check out Live Through This again. It's killer. And just a touch feminine in a Courtney Love sorta way.

Re: Gender vs age
Why do I have the feeling I just lost my entire male audience? Forget what I said, there IS nudity. Lots! Really!!!kissingkerie1 wrote:(there's no nudity except for a strip where she is getting dressed).

Older people are usually more experienced in reading in general, not only comics. My comic contains huge amounts of slapstick so if it doesn't draw only 12 year old kids, I may assume it's well done.kissingkerie1 wrote:Girls are perverts too!
