I want to start a comic with a friend...have questions...

Post by Garlisk »

Me and a buddy are getting ready to start publishing a webcomic, and we're going to be in need of hosting. So, the first thing that comes to mind when I think webcomics is keenspot and keenspace.

What I need to know, though, is if we get a keenspace site, would be both be able to access it and update it, or would only one of us be able to maintain it?

Thanks for your time!

You get a username and password to log into your site through FTP. So long as you both have the password and an FTP program, you'll both be able to upload files to your site.

Yup...just give your buddy the password to your account and you can both use it.

Remember, we're Comicgen now. Not keenspace.

And yes, I gave my friend my FTP password so he can upload rants.

Permission to say I still miss Keenspace? I will never be able to say I used to be a 'Comicgen-goer' or whatever you call yourselves now. :( Garlisk, do you know what you are getting yourself into?? I'm just kidding. Good luck.

And your friends rants are under his own name, not yours?

On Comic Gen (Almost said Keenspace myself. -_-), you can design your website any way you want and you can put whatever name you want wherever you want. Only the URL is a set thing, as well as the banner ad at the top. Other than that you can design it any way you want.

Comic Genesis isn't like other webhosts in that you put in the info and it does all the coding. This is very do-it-yourself. You design the website. You set the update schedule. You decide every word and picture that goes into it, and where it goes.

It needs a little HTML savvy, but there are some pretty kickin' tutorials hanging around, so that's not much of a problem.
This is going in my notebook titled "Things I Didn't Know about Surface Dwellers."

Yes, as mentioned above, both of yous can maintain. And I hope that your joint endevour goes off better than mine. I'm supposed to be doing a webcomic with my friend. And 80+ strips later, she hasn't done a single one.
