okay gang. i've got a few megabytes free on my campus webspace, so i'll host this stuff for a while. as long as it's not expected to be there four or five months from now, then all is well.
here it be!

For the purpose of doing this kind of stuff (and because I needed a new b/w printer anyway) I got myself this printer:
http://dabs.com/uk/channels/hardware/pr ... klinx=308W
Essentially the same model as faub's. But with built-in duplex unit, because I'm darned lazy. Having seen the final product I'm pretty enthused about doing some more. Either a proper anthology or an organised jam.

It was meant for people with limited resources so print it on 8.5x11.
If you can't do color, it DOES look okay B&W but you should really consider a different quality of paper so it's cover-like. The only problem with a B&W cover is that at 300 dpi you can see the jaggies in the K logo on top and around the text. The inside pages will look better in some cases than the cover.
Also, Kinkos charges $0.99 for a color copy. The page trimmers are free to anyone who wants to use them. Stapling costs $0.10 per staple and the book can be folded and stapled for $0.25. They're ripping you off with the folding and stapling but the color copies is ABOUT what you'll find most places. I got really lucky with MU charging $0.50.
Still, at $0.03 per B&W copy (again MU pricing), printing a cover costs more than printing the rest of the book. I have a price quote from Sir Speedy Printing (a professional printer) 100 color copies for $120.70 or about $1.21 per color copy. Color is expensive. That's why we're only doing a color cover and B&W pages.
I sent an email to Jennie Breeden. She was willing to print up some copies for her trip to megacon and freaked about the color too.

yeah, the color's expensive, i checked at the office depot close towhere i work at. and they're 89 cents up to 100 copies, then 79 cents after that and then that's just the front/back cover. they dont see it as being 4/1 cover but a 4/4 cover. so it cost another 89 cents to print the back side of the spread. looking at these numbers, makes me think that comixpress is really a good deal. i'm planning on doing a b/w cover version to give out as freebie at our store. and also at momocon. i'll post my numbers as soon as i get things solidified
