I haven't heard from whoever drew my name, yet.

But here's what I drew for http://www.alien-life.tk/ :

Pair that up with the fact that I've still got to draw something for the not-all-too-great comic that I've been assigned, and I appear to have gotten boned on this deal.

I dunno about everyone else, but I'm kinda insulted here. You act like next year won't be different, like everyone who ever gets your comic won't try and you'll always get stuck with a comic you don't like.
Well, I also got stuck drawing for a comic I didn't really like...of a genre I don't really like. And the reason it pissed me off is because I knew I wasn't about to do something half-assed. So I had to drag myself through an archieve full of humor that I simply cannot appreciate and some of which offend me.
So this is what I did for the comic Cube 30 and I'm rather proud of myself. I may not be the best artist, but I did my best to do something relevant to the comic. And I think most of us would...unless one can draw something cool enough to get away with it. Well, I know I can't. And I know I'll do the best I can every year.

So don't assume that we're all like that.

P.S. Is that image working? It's been a complete whore >.<

So, you're allowed to be pissed off about that, but I'm not? Add to your own anger an obviously dashed-off fanart for yourself while you're still trying to figure out how to approach your assignment and ask yourself how much more pissed off you'd be.

People, I'm sorry I'm not joining in the munchkin dance, here. I'd love to subscribe to your rosy webcomic love-in, but sometimes things just suck.
Of course, I'm the one that isn't JP Sloan or Jim North.

Too bad. I've generally been pretty lucky in those I've gotten, both this year and last year, and other crossovers, like the Comixpedia Valentine's Day crossovers.

I did a Valentine's day crossover thing.

Nishichi/Genesis/Typo/Laura and I, the ONLY two girls in the entire thing, were paired up. We only got 4 pages of it done. ;_;

It was all on good terms, though. We were both very busy with our own comics, not to mention school. I'd be willing to try something again, but Not until I'm sure I can follow through the next time.
Yay. | Yay Part II.

Now, hold up just a damn second. I never said you couldn't be upset that you got a lousy assignment or that you got a lousy secret santa gift. Not once.
What I did say is that there's absolutely no reason to act like every other person who ever gets your webcomic in this event is going to be an asshole. If you don't want to participate next year, fine. But you shouldn't act like you think every one of us is a lazy, uncaring prick. You could chalk it up to bad luck this year and try again next year.
So far I've hardly seen anyone (and not just the people from Keenspace) who didn't put good effort into their work. Why say "screw next year" when it's obvious that the person who got your comic was the exception, not the rule?

It have to say, if you're going to do any sort of Valentine's thing, you ought to have more than just 2 girls.

Ooo... nice one, godoftarot.

I don't know about anyone else, but personally I would be proud to get a fanart like that.

I think it's like I said in the other thread, these fanart swaps are a gamble. It might be great if you got a comic that you already read or love, but it's even better if you get one you've never heard before, it bring you out of your sphere and let you experience something new (even if you may not like it).

In my case I got a comic that might have not been to my taste, but that's luck for you. But then again I was lucky enough to get THE Aeire of QOW forthe historical Romance Crossover crossover last time, so as you see, it all varies.

Oh my goodness... and I just got an awesome Secret Santa surprise from ladydarke over at Broken Glass:

 I am not worthy  Now I feel all guilty and stuff for not being able to send out my guest comic.

You know, all in all this has been kinda fun. And rather amusing for me, because I had a feeling after War mentioned he didn't like the kind of comic that I draw that he got stuck with mine. And I was right ^^
And you know, I went and read War's comic afterward just to check it out. It isn't the type of comic I normally like (having comics of that variety quoted at you again and again and AGAIN by ex-boyfriends will do that to ya) but he's got such a great sense of humor. I actually really like it. So I think this is a great opportunity to read something you never have before.

Ah, finally heard back again from the fellah, and it turns out he is, in fact, my Secret Santa. :D Unfortunately, I still don't know what his webcomic is (still waiting to hear back from him another time for that), but meh. At least I've got it!

So, here it is! Kat especially liked it, to no surprise. ;) Pretty durn cute, neh?

Wooo! Secret Santa comic time.

We got this wonderful peice of art from Nergal of Galaxy Wars. It's so very awsome, we've made a new best friend, whether Nergal knows it or not.

Our Secret Santa was Blue of My Generic Webcomic. He got this little pic of his most wonderful pet "dog," Killer.
Yes, I am Feru and I am a lurker, I lurk with all the mighty powers of n00b! Now leave me alone...

A funny thing seemed to happen to me. The comic (24 and a Half Water Street) who I had to give a Secret Santa for ending being the Secret Santa for the comic (Michiko Monagatari) that gave me one. I just found it odd that the three of us were interconnected...

And here's the gift that I got! :D

I agree. Which is why I must admit that I was just the tiniest bit disappointed when my assigned comic was revealed to be:

http://www.olywa.net/cook/pictures/ssduffymoe.gif

It's a wonderful comic drawn by one of the greats and I'm a faithful reader. But. Something all-new would have been nice. (And I felt like I was butchering the characters trying to draw them...) Ah well, next year!

Yes, I'll be back next year, even though I also haven't heard from my SS yet. If it was supposed to be Phalanx or Kevin Wolf, I really don't want to know.

EDIT: If you have gotten your art, take a moment to post a message to the official Secret Santa forum.
