Concerts are awesome.
Concerts are awesome.
I went to Vans Warped Tour (twice!) this week, and during The Vandal's set, I got to moshing and my mouth started bleeding.
It was awesome.

I saw Electric Six two weeks ago, the lead singer looks totally different from the filmclips - similar enough that you can tell it's the same person, but that's about it.
Nevertheless, they were very good. The mosh pit was packed and I was in there for about an hour and a half. I was drenched with sweat afterwards, and only about half of it was mine I'm sure. I couldn't speak because my voice was gone from shouting, and I couldn't hear because I was so close to the front. Took three days for my ears to stop ringing.
Best $30 I ever spent.

I saw the Constantines at a tiny club in April. Luckily, it was all ages. I didn't turn 19 until last month.
The BEST concert I have EVER been to was Fugazi in June 2001. Yes, they've now finally made 20 of their concerts available as CDs, but...not that one. Boohoo.
edit: Oh yeah, I'm seeing David Byrne on Sunday night as part of the Edmonton Folkfest.

Psiogen and I live a difficult life. There is one band I'm sure either of us would sell our left soul to see but it will never be. *Sniff sniff* At least we get cool 'no way you can perform this stuff on stage' stuff that your "touring" bands are afraid to put together.
but it'd still be nice to see XTC live...
Best show I've been to was Depeche Mode and The The. Hoestly, it was more because of The The than Depeche, thier harmonica player goes nuts on the stage the way all good rock harmonica, uh, ists should.

Best concert I've ever gone to (excluding what happens every weekend at church) is an Avalon, Joy Williams and Mark Shultz concert. "Testify to Love", "Touch of Faith" and "Back in His Arms", all in one auditoreum.
One thing I wish I COULD have gone to this year was Celebrate Freedom 04. They had Stephen Curtis Chapman, FFH, Jump5, Audio Adrenlyne, Phillips, Craig and Dean...and sence it's a Fourth of July event, it's all day and they have fireworks.
But we had to go to my Aunt's birthday party. Otherwise, we would have been disowned.
I wanted to steal the van. Seriously.

I fondly remember Fuguzi coming to my town. It was awesome to see so many kids coming out a show. I go to a lot of local shows and that was the bestest for turn out.SuperSnob wrote:The BEST concert I have EVER been to was Fugazi in June 2001. Last show I went to, was Funker Vogt /feat. Terrorfackt. Terrorfackt was painfully band, but if you ever get a chance to see FV see them. I thought face to face had an energetic show, then I saw Jens and the boys and was blown away.
still mad that Assemblege 23 canceled dates, to america til spring 2005... no good bastards... but I'm just venting.
Yup. It's a sad fate...no XTC...Gentle Giant..King Crimson...man, I need a time machine to go back to the 70's.Skylark_King wrote:Psiogen and I live a difficult life. My favorite concert was probably seeing the Dismemberment Plan on their farewell tour. At least there's one band I got to see before they broke up!

whoah, your into EBM too? Ive seen VNV Nation(my favorite), Apoptygma Berzerk, Covenant, FunkerVogt, Assemblage 23, Icon of Coil, Haujobb, Stromkern, Front Line Assembly, NIN, and too many more to count. Havent seen wumpscut, front 242, or suicide commando tho. Living in San Francisco has its priveleges...but yeah, Funker Vogt rule...good video game soundtrack stuff.phactorri wrote: Last show I went to, was Funker Vogt /feat. Terrorfackt. I usually get all cyberpunk'd out and go to industrial dance clubs every week.
Ya should check out my comic, I reference all these bands in there.
One of my all time fave shows besides VNV Nation, was seeing NIN with Marilyn Manson in 1994...Sisters of Mercy, The Cure and Siouxsie and the Banshees...and of course Delerium last fall and The B-52's. Bowie was cool too. Still wish I could see They Might Be Giants, Depeche Mode, and Devo tho.
I also wish I could see Peter Gabriel, Postal Service, Interpol, Leonard Cohen, Sarah Brightman, and Godspeed You Black Emperor.
David Byrne is a visionary...Im a huge Talking Heads fan.mcDuffies wrote:Last I've seen is David Byrne..

Pockybot... you'll never see :w: as Rudy ratzinger is against live shows. he's like germany's babra streisand or somthing. I hear he lives in some old WWII bunker and never leaves his home. who knows however.
I hear that Godspeed put on a great show a friend of mine got to see them in Chicago, and said it was phenomenial. I've seen Sarah brightman however who had such a beautiful stage show. I'd definitely let her bare my childrens if she requested. ^_^
As most people here know actually am in an elektronik band, so I go clubbing a bit. not as much as i use to, as its sort of tragik the way the scene has died around here. The gothik kids have this monthly costume thing they do. speaking of clubs, is the coven still open, in SF? I use to know one of the owners.
I've seen a lot of bands, myself though quite a bit more punk, indie bands come around here than elektronik as the east coast has practically no, bands. but I believe Synthcon is gonna be in NYC this year, so I might go.
my dream concerts arn't many, I've seen a lot of electronik bands but Color Theory, Wolfsheim, and Fictional are bands I know would rock live.
as for other genres... I think seeing Atreyu would be grand, Pat Methany trio, and definatly rasputina would be a treat.

after the last slipknot show, i have retired from concerts, it's what i had
been waiting for for years. and my ears rang for days after, a week i think.
and the only other band that can coax me out of this is Mindless self indulgence, they're always great. high energy and hilarious.
and i'm glad, but find it bittersweet that i got to see Five Pointe O before they broke up, wish i had known the fantastic album before i saw them.
pick up that album, metal fans, really different, organic and fresh sounding hard rock on that.

yeah rudy from :w: is probably fat old and bitter...I liked the wreath of barbs album best, but a lot of their stuff is kind of tiring. I cant stand crap like Velvet Acid Christ, totally cliche to me. Geez, ya got to see Sarah Brightman? lucky. Her concerts are expensive...but I LOVE stuff like her, delerium, conjure one, dead can dance, enigma, enya, loreena mckennit, bel canto, clannad, etc.phactorri wrote:Pockybot... you'll never see :w: as Rudy ratzinger is against live shows. he's like germany's babra streisand or somthing. I also do electronic music...I have an EBM futurepop music project coinciding with my webcomic PockyBot. Think VNV, funker, Apop, or Suicide Commando with the offbeat lyrics of Freezepop, Bloodhound Gang or They Might Be Giants, with a heavy retro gaming/anime/wacky theme.
But gosh, Reason, how I love thee. But I have some remix rainchecks lined up and other stuff. Lots of stuff Im looking forward to doing in 2005.
The only synthcon I know went defunct. There will be america's first ever big EBM synthpop festival in vegas next june. usually those sort of things are held in germany. As for san francisco...I got to about 4 regular industrial/goth clubs like Death Guild (Im there every week...as is the guys from AFI, Information Society, Informatik, and other bands) DNA Lounge, and some other ones. Never heard of Coven. Then again Ive been in thsi scene for a decade so it all seems hazy to me.
The best concerts I've been to were probably Morrissey and Steely Dan. And that one time Iron Maiden, Dio, and Motorhead were touring together, that was an awesome show too.
And I've always enjoyed Barenaked Ladies shows, they're hilarious live.
I just saw The Who last night, and I gotta say, I would've been extremely disappointed if I had paid for the ticket. All I really wanted to hear was 5:15, and they didn't even play that... but hey, they're old, it's not right to expect them to have the energy they used to have. Especially with only half the original members. There were some really good harmonica solos, though...
