Time Management
Time Management
So how do you guys manage your time when you've got a job and/or school/college to deal with, as well?
I've found myself busier than I thought in my first week back to college. I think I'll still have time for my strip, but I might have to cut it down to once weekly. Homework, studies, and my job come first, so I might let my comic become sporadic again. Ick.
By the way, and totally off topic, I've discovered that ballpoint pens are probably the best way for me, personally, to ink. Sad, ain't it?
Anyway, I'm interested to read how the rest of you manage your time when you're so busy you wonder if your mind has gone on vacation without you.

I estimate how pages I can make a week based on a given number of hours per day that I can spend working on it under normal circumstances. I then update less often than I figure I can manage. That way, under normal circumstances I'm actually building up a buffer of extra comics; when I'm busy I can usually maintain my nominal output; and when I'm so busy I can't work on the comic at all, I still have my buffer of work to upload.

Well...
Back when I was working (that sounds Soooo sad...) I used to draw as many issues as I could on the weekends until I had at least a month's buffer of strips, then I'd draw every other Saturday (or If I felt like it, when I got home from work I'd work on them then too.) However, I update once a week. So, you'd probably have to do more and build a bigger buffer. Put the same principle could apply. I hope this was helpful! ^^;

ugh. tell me about it. I've got Pesky, IM's 2-a year Nightstalker to draw. my personal Parallelled that 'll be added to the IM issue too, so that's another 2-a year thing. I've got my paintings I'm trying to sell, just my daily drawing 'diary'. and I'm going back to college next year. I have no idea how I'll do it. last year I just made less and less comics, till I just got so sick of it I yelled bugger 'm all and quit for months.
I hope I don't do that again.

when i find an off period i just try and draw what i can on a pice of paper... then i scan it and color it... i actually have a system up where one day a week ( i post 2 days a week) its just the rough scanned sketch with the word bubbles added, and some light over inking.... and the other day (when i have a little more time) i color them in... that helps me keep ontop of things... also loading like 5 strips into your auto keen helps... try drawing some stuff out at work (i have no idea what kind of job you have), or in class... (class is good b/c who ever pays attention anyhow

I have work every day I don't have class, and homework every day I *do* have class... it's getting harder and harder to find time for SomeSuch. I don't know how those of you who have 7-day-a-week comics (or even 5-day comics) manage it. I really truly don't. I'm trying though. I'm still on hiatus while I fix my comic up a bit, practice a trifle on the art, that kind of thing, but it'll be back soon enough, full insane force.

I tend to come up with ideas at school, sketching out drafts (I rarely draw the finished product there). I'm currently unemployed, so that gives me some extra time...I might have to alter my schedule when I find work.

I have to divide my time between my wife, kids, work around the house (I'm building a staircase to the attic right now, and then I have a whack of furnature that needs refinishing and then I have a whack of furnature to design and build) and then my occupational work (musician/recording engineer/composer). Last on my list of priorities is the webcomic saddly. Yet still I somehow find the time to crank one out a week.
Don't ask me how though.

Before you mention how pathetic it is that I know nothing of the greatness that is DDR keep in mind I live in a very small town where the bible is STILL in the top 100 best sellers each year(if not top 25)

I personally only have Konamix, and a very very crappy pad, but i'm borrowing an imported 3rd and 4th mix from somebody, AND my local arcade has DDR Max2 7th Mix. Very very awesome. It's the athletic activity of geeks, nerds, and a pot heads. I'm not that great at it though. I still have trouble on some level 6 and 7 songs.
Trevor Is Small- Like sex... only better. And... um... bigger! And with a llama! Wait... no, forget the llama.

Dance Dance Revolution? Feh!
Judging from the massive response I got from my female readership I'd be a fricken millioneir if only I could find a way to invent this.
