I'm looking for an artist for a police story comic who can draw in a 50's black and white style. If no one is interested, can you still give the link of a forum or website where I can find someone?

This here forum is pretty damned dead, and those of us zombies who are still around generally can't even be assed to work on their own projects, let alone someone else's.

I don't know where to point you to find a collaborator. Maybe deviantART or Reddit? Are there even active webcomic community sites anymore?

Sorry I'm unable to provide the help you seek. Allow me to make up for it with a bit of unsolicited advice; consider scraping up some cash to pay for an artist. The chances of finding willing artists improve greatly when you've got money to grease the wheels. Just something to think about. Good luck with your project.

Seconding most of what Buster said, and adding- try asking SmackJeeves. It's another community centralized around a webcomic host site with lots of creators, and has the advantage of being a lot more active than this site. Just find the subforum that says "Creative Collaboration" and post there. You'll probably want to be more spectific about what you are seeking. How long will the project be (in pages and/or if possible, in people years), some details about the story- you want to sell people a little more on the idea so they know if it's really something they want to get into.

We just hired an artist not too long ago, and in addition to hitting up deviantart (where we got most of our responses), I posted the job offer on the Webcomic Underdogs forum (where we found our current inker/shader). You can find the forum here: http://www.webcomicunderdogs.com/forum/ I'd say make an account, introduce yourself, and post a job offer in the Gigs subforum. They're a relatively active and very talented community, so you might have some luck there. As Buster said, your "luck" is typically proportional to how much you're willing to spend - just for reference, we offered $30 per strip and got over a dozen quality responses, although some tried to negotiate up to $40.

Another thing to keep in mind is the Golden Triangle, where the three sides represent quality, speed, and cost. You can only have two of the three sides in any deal, so if you want quality art on the cheap, you'll need a slow update schedule, if you want an artist that's both fast and good, you need to be ready to compensate them, etc. That should give you some idea of what to expect when hiring an artist.

Actually, for speed the opposite is true in my case. Slower speed usually means higher quality from me. So if I were to be hired cheap, I can do fast but low quality. So there's possibly other artists out there who work like me just so you know. It's always good to ask first.
