Well dont'cha see if you just start over you can build the buffer first and then

Naw, yeah, it doesn't work for everybody, so you gotta do what you can handle. In my case it works because each page takes longer if I do it separate from the rest than if I work on a couple at the same time and seems to so far average out to between 4-6 hours per page, computer editing not included. For people I've talked to whose art is much more complex and takes many more hours (even averaged out), this idea would only be so feasible as if you were doing it as a full-time job, basically.

Yesterday I sat down and penciled through the entire ending of Nailbat: Final Journey. It's good to finally have the entire plan cemented onto paper. Of course there's still inking, scanning, and editing to do, but usually it's getting started that's the hardest thing to do. Not to mention I new this was going to be a heart wrencher to draw, so it wasn't exactly easy to do that.

I found a Tumblr theme designed specifically for webcomics. I'm giving it a try and it seems to be working pretty well.

Ever draw something and you think it looks pretty good but you're scared that it doesn't really look good and that when you look at it the next morning it'll be like unusably off and bad and wrong and need to be redrawn

like beyond the normal "i drew this in the past therefore it's bad" type of way, like in the "this actually wasn't even accetpable when i drew it" type of way

7/13 pages loosely sketched! A few panels are missing though because they're either relatively complex p.o.v things I need to really just sit down to hammer out or are normal panels that just kept turning out unusably screwed up.

The best looking page is the most recent, gee self it's almost like getting on a roll and working on your comic almost daily actually improves your abilities therein, go figure hah what a wacky concept

If I get the time this weekend I'm going to add an extra page to the current LTD storyline, otherwise the last two pages are good to go next week, the extra page is completely unnecessary but would be a good cheesy joke.
Next up is a couple of one-page gags (which I am totally not using to buy time while I work out the next story).

At the moment my FT updates have been fortnightly-ish due to a messed up roster at work (a co-worker was "asked to leave" a couple of months ago) but I should be back to my normal roster next week, fingers crossed I can get back into a routine.

I'm thinking of opening an etsy store to sell some of my art, and maybe start taking commissions again.
I know I'm not the best artist around here but hopefully I can make a few bucks.

Well, I've decided to try out this Patreon thing before it gets too saturated to jump on the bandwagon. It's at http://patreon.com/antibunny if anyone cares. Trying to gauge if my choices for rewards and goals are all that great.

Page 120 of ToP is looking awesome! Wish I could share it, but it would be a massive spoiler. :P

No, K-Dawg! It is you who have up-fucked! Now we know you know of our new comic!

We will be expecting flowers, candy, and blatantly over-exaggerated compliments every time we update.

You brought this on yourself.

Congrats, Tero!!!! What's the story now, pardon the pun? Are you distributing it?

I'm having a freaking ball of a time working on the current scene- I thought it was going to be a chore of a slog to get through but there's surprisingly been a lot of room for funny facial expressions and the like. And the inking I did last night felt natural and fairly competent.

I need to experiment with some coloring techniques before I officially get to that step in the process. I'm a little worried about coloring in general for this one, I think I'm going to have to break the scene down into smaller chunks in order to pick colors for each part and stuff like that. Although the uplifting thing is that I'm even doing that at all- it shows how far I've come over the past year that I'm actually being deliberate about color choices and not just coloring everything all the same way.

I'll have to rewrite the next scene at some point soon. The original dialogue was way too on-the-nose and the entire exchange way too clanky so I'll hvae to devote some focused time to crafting the whole thing properly so it doesn't read like an eleven year old writing a soap opera. Ooooohhh and I just rememebered I have a script for a different recently added scene tucked in a notebook somewhere that I'll have to find.

I had wanted to be done with this whole chapter and part of chapter seven by the end of this year but it's becoming increasingly unlikely. I'll just have to focus on just finishing this one, really, and if I manage to get anywhere further than that, great. *sigh* I won't even achieve my goal of overtaking last year's output :/

What she said, well done dude!!!

And Cuddly, it sounds like things are going better for you again, can't wait to see how it goes :D

EDIT: My creative works are going so-so but, heck, we can't win 'em all.

I'm not really looking towards conventional publishing right now, I don't think it's something a lot of people would be interested in and it's a nasty process to go through. For now I'm happy enough just to have it online and get some feedback while I work on my next project.

Ughghgh I'm sensing the onset of another standstill. :ick: I had wanted to be all done inking foreground AND background by today-ish so I could color all this week and get things uploading by the start of September. But there's so much left to do, a bunch of crowd/audience scenes and things of that nature and uruuuuuuuuururuurururuuurrrrr

Sometimes I think about the fact that like 5 people on the planet will ever even read the comic and it gets kind of disheartening. Like I'm going to be really bummed out once I start uploading this huge scene if nobody turns up for it despite me running ads and stuff. I also wish I could open and edit the list of my "fans" on SmackJeeves and remove the people who have my comic bookmarked but who haven't even been logged into SJ at all in years, so it would be a more accurate representation of who actually comes around (though I know some readers aren't from SJ, and that some listed fans who are active on the site haven't actually read my comic and just have it favorited because they like me on the forums or whatever)

On the bright side, besides the chorey aspect to certain parts of it, I've had a lot of fun drawing this scene in general so I'm sure the few people who do like the comic will enjoy it when it's finished.

I just need to be realistic about it- I'm probably NOT going to have it done by the end of the month, even if I have most of the coloring done that would still be 13 pages to edit so I really need to not rush and burn out partway through and end up ruining the whole thing. I'm going to break the coloring down into chunks anyway which should help.

For sure!

I'm in a bit of a similar place myself right now. I thought that once my roster got back to normal I'd get back on schedule but the last couple of weeks I've been all blaaahhh and unmotivated.
To make matters worse it's almost September and I haven't achieved any of my goals for the year

On the plus side I've done some random fun art stuff so at least I'm keeping a little practice up.

Hope things are going well for you Schoob! Nice to see some of the sketches and drawings you've been putting up :)

I just feel kind of burned out, like I want to take a day off. And I would, except for the nagging feeling of obligation. Well, maybe I'll do that tomorrow. Maybe tonigth I'll try to just get a little more done and then tomorrow I will allow myself NOTHING to do with drawing or comics or anything. MAYBE I WILL BANISH MYSELF FROM EVEN THE COMPUTER

Argh, it's like I'm so close ot being able to move on to the next step. And it doesn't help that I have a paranoia that I'm going to dry up a marker I really need right at the time I need it most :/ Well, that's what fixing things in post is for, I guess.
