heh. 's true though. I started off basing 'Pesky' on the X-files, with Pesky as a cross between Mulder from the X-files and I guess a sort of rambo/karatekid/the tick-girl.
her brother would have been Skully, and all the people all around the cynical bystanders.
Somehow, though, Pesky seems to be based on me for a large part too. Though as I was as a little kid. Strong, smart, obnoxious. convinced of her own rightiousness. Bad-tempored, and no consideration of others.
It kinda explains to me why some children had so much trouble with me back then.

My three main characters (Hans, Gretel, Mom)are taken from a Grimm fairy tale by the name of "Clever Hans." I turned it into an animated short in 2000 and kinda held onto the characters.
A lot of their experiences though come from my own experiences with childhood and children.
------------------

aw, what the hell. this comic doesn't exist yet, but i'll tell you who they're all based on for the hell of it.
Doll is based on a doodle i made one time. and my nephew. put together. then Doll is based on a whim that i had after i drew Doll (it's not supposed to make sense)
You is based on the fact that i need someone the readers can relate to. Puffin is based on a picture in my head and this one time i was watching Futurama and george washington said "ah yes, booze money" in a way that made me laugh. Nevermore is based on pure evil. Nietzsche is based on Friedrick Nietzsche, who had the coolest last name since Stalin. Daemonion is based on Jackie, my sidekick in my old strip. I based a character on her in the new strip just to keep her happy. An is based on An, the King of Gods in Sumer and later Babylonia (of course they called him Anu, but that's just dumb), Anubis is based on the Egyption jackal-headed prince of the dead. Jesus is based on Jesus. Meech is based on this character i made that was based on a character i made that was based on Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes. J is based on the fact that we like minorities. Mallard is based on pot. Sam is based on the ideal relationship (and maybe influenced a little by monique from sinfest, i'll never tell). Eric is based on stuff that I think is cool. The Government Agents are based on the generic government agent. Freddy is based on my need to dance.
i think that's all of them.

Uh... Let me think...
There isn't really a main character in Digital Generation so I'll just move on to Final Draft.
Kristen Klatsky is based on a mixture of me (my opinions) with Ted Rall, who is one of my favorite columnists and cartoonists. Maybe this is why my "Final Draft" comic pays homage time and time again to Ted Rall
------------------

Like most other people I've noticed, One of the four main characters of Mega-Cool, Todd, is based of me. Even down to having the same name. The three other main characters, and several supporting characters are based off friends of mine.
------------------

My characters are all based on real guinea pigs! (yeah I had them as pets and when I was really young I started drawing comics about them...and for some reason I still am) Well, except Ninja Pig of the North...haha that would be funny, a little guinea pig dressed up as a Ninja with little swords...anyhow, their personalities are based on absolutely nothing...in fact, they seem to change every single comic. But I'm working my way through that, you know?

Is it really possible to make a character that's not in some way, some how, based on you? I mean, they come out of your mind, and unless they go against everything you stand for they must in some way represent some element of your personality. That's kind of the way my three main characters are. They've each got bits of my personality mixed in, then it gets amplified and they're placed in their own world for their personalities to develop on their own.

Well it probably isn't (possible to make a character that is not made by you). Especially with us amateurs. I avoided it as much as i could, but every interesting characteristic people I met have, is a good material for comic.
Luckily, I don't really have character based on me, cause I don't really like the idea of copying myself. And I'd probably sue myself for copyright.

But Gordon might easily represent what I was like in high-school. Although not literally cause I've never been nervous like him.
But take his gastronomy affection, Smiley's good mood, Jessie's dissability to read between the lines, and some other characteristics of various mcDuffies characters, and you could pretty much get the whole me!
And Tommy, of course, is opposit of all that.

For anyone who's seen my site my character, quite obviously, is based on Boba Fett. In appearance at any rate, what with the helmet and armor. The personality, however, is completely different, from the generic hardcore, efficient killing machine reflected by anything with Lucas Arts. He's actually based a lot on myself, with his reactions being a lot sillier than what the infamous bounty hunter himself might do in similar situations. Basically, it's a parody of all the star-wars based characters found in strips, I have tentative plans to bring in other characters also based on broad categories in webcomics. Fun stuff.

Are you saying that you are NOT a non sequitor prone green guy? And you don't have a sentient tube sock as your best friend?

My world is crushed

All my characters are an aspect of myself. Though the comical version of Frody fits my personality the most.

Chucko Liang (a controversial topic) was named after Chuko Liang who was a respected general and tactician in ancient China.

Bolo was named after the tie.

Sebastian was created by a friend of mine and is based on Wyatt Earp.

Frody was named after Frederick Douglas. His personality is based on Doc Holliday while his appearance was inspired by Keith Hamilton Cobb.

Although none of my characters were consciously based on myself or anybody else, I've come to realize that Briefcase represents everything weak, lazy and superficial about myself.

I'm sure that if I really thought about it, I could find aspects of my personality in almost all of my characters.

However, I stand by my assertion that my comic features no characters explicitly based on anybody, dammit.
Of course, I'm the one that isn't JP Sloan or Jim North.

There are basically three main characters in mine. Killroy is based on a mish-mash of one-dimensional sci-fi villains, but I plan to have him transcend their level as the story progresses.

Tina isn't based on any specific person I know, since nobody I know has superpowers. Besides Jackie Chan, but I don't know him very well. And Copperfield is a hack.

Brandon could be in any gamer/geek/slacker comic, but he isn't. He will also have developments in time that will put him past his stereotype.

My characters are all based on George. That's right. George. George. George of the Jungle. Strong as he can be. My characters do watch out for that tree, though. HA
