Re: What made YOU happy today?
Just got done performing a comedy improv show at the Landstuhl USO for Wounded Warriors. We made people laugh, we gave them a good time, we took their minds off their troubles for a little while. All in all, it was a good evening.

Re: What made YOU happy today?
I ordered a hat online and it shipped today! I am super excited because it was on sale for $18 which is about half off the original price, and it looks really spiffy!
And after two weeks my spiffy triathlon jersey and shorts are shipping today, too! They were really good with the estimate, they said their wait time was 15 days, I ordered on the 2nd, and today is the 17th, so spot on. So I will have plenty of time to see how the shorts feel and also to exchange them if they don't fit right.
And I decided to paint today and somehow I ended up painting the flatirons, except that because I wasn't looking at them or at a reference photo they're not *really* the flatirons, so it's kind of weird. But painting is fun! I got paint on my desk but I don't care.
Also I took my bike in to the shop yesterday because the tires were both low on air and the guy said that it's totally natural for tires to lose some air over time and that's all, which is a huge relief because the day before yesterday I went on a bike ride and was going over a bunch of rocks and I was all the way out when I realized the tires were low and I was afraid I'd beat the rims to shit and that's why the pressure was low. But they're fine! (Also FYI if any of you decide to do the Switzerland trail up by Nederland, CO, on a bike, don't get any ideas about making a loop with the Pennsylvania Ditch Road. It is 95% not bikeable and you will end up pushing/carrying your bike up a really steep "road" that is mostly covered in loose rocks. Maybe if you're an expert you can bike down it, I don't know, but I wouldn't like to try it.)
And I woke up at 6am this morning, which is awesome, because it seems I'm finally back on the diurnal schedule. Hooray!

I got to see about 40 minutes of Taylor's live chat this morning.
It was a nice thing to come home to after a typically crappy night at work.

In other news, I just realized <3 has been updating. I thought it was on permanent hiatus due to legitimacy issues. Its continuation was a happy realization.

Heh. I think I just needed six months to push through the terror of being outed and not living up to my own expectations. Or possibly laziness.Risky wrote:In other news, I just realized <3 has been updating. I thought it was on permanent hiatus due to legitimacy issues. Its continuation was a happy realization.
And then, once I started writing again, it had been so long that half the issues I'd outlined were no longer relevant. And we'd all gotten haircuts.

Re: What made YOU happy today?
I had an amazing (and expensive) lunch, paid for by my new clients today. Its weird having lunch paid for, when I tend to do the lunch buying.

It figures we've gotten far fewer of them as of late.

Re: What made YOU happy today?
Cleaning out my Nana's house so we can sell it, two days ago we had a yard sale and made a decent amount, yesterday we pretty much just gave things away but we still had a lot, including a lot of furniture I loved. I was really upset to see it not going anywhere.
Suddenly today, like angels from the heavens, these saviors descended upon us and took every piece of furniture save for one broken looking lamp, the vanity from the bedroom, and the old TV box. All the linens were taken by a woman who was going to give them to her daughter and mother and send back to women in the Dominican Republic to help them, and this one man who stopped by on both the other days came around with who I presume were his sister and mother and they took oodles of things including a lamp/table, a family took every blanket and clean rug, a man with a huge workvan took all the scrap metal, I could go on and on. He even took the old lawnmower (although I guess he's probably going to break it down for scrap). I even managed to give a big desk from the back room to one lady who needed a crafting table and I convinced her to take my Pop Pop's fluorescent lamp too.
This has been a post which is exciting to no one but me and my family. I'm just so relieved we didn't have to throw all that good furniture away and that it's going to new homes.

Re: What made YOU happy today?
I got a job at the comic store about a week and a half ago. I have seriously been wanting to work at this store since I was 16 (I'm now 25) and I always assumed it was just a pipe dream. I still can't believe it - I haven't even told any of my friends yet, because I'm so afraid I'll jinx it somehow.
But I guess it's time to stop worrying about that - I'm VERY happy there so far...

Re: What made YOU happy today?
I LOVE getting to mentor 2nd Lieutenants. It's weird that a little over a year ago I was in their place...all confused about protocol, missions, hand receipts, NCOERs, awards, and all that fun stuff you learn to do as an officer. Yet, here I am the company XO, and actually able to teach them a few tips and tricks they need to know to be better.
Weird how what's a brilliant idea to the new guy is common sense to the person who's been doing it a while. Perspective truly IS everything....

Or is that "Worst. Reply. Everrrr." ;P
Seriously though. A box of new stuff arrived at the store yesterday and I swear it was like Christmas - inside, amongst other treasures, was an old collection of ZOT! colour issues, which have yet to be reprinted. I immediately grabbed that for myself, after entering it into the store system...it's sad to think that the majority of my paychecks are just going to go back into buying comics... ;p
