Robby's Thread-o-Links
This is the friggin internet, and I know we all stumble across cool stuff, and lets face it, everyone deserves to know the awesomeness you've found. So come one come all and lets pool our links for the entertainment of others. I'll dump a bunch to get us started

Cool art stuff, I know there's people in here who love animals, and who love steampunk, combine and...

For those of us who also engage in outdoor activities, here's a bunch of sites (all related) that have great discounts on snowboard, skiing, skateboarding, backpacking, cycling, camping, and other sports equipment/clothing.

Re: Robby's Thread-o-Links
I'm currently infatuated by possibilities of self-made musical instruments... not that I made anything decent so far, not in the small apartment where I currently reside. Perhaps in summer when I visit my folks... anyways that's the kind of links that are in my temp bookmark folder these days:
http://www.instructables.com/ instructables is an awesome site where people post tutorials on how they made various things... good thing is they're all amateurs, because on any similar site maintained by professionals in the field, projects are far out of my scope.
http://dennishavlena.com/ here's a bunch of projects, alas in textual form, but there are some exotic ideas.
A project for making a hang drum seems particularly interesting.
Alas, No project for making a good wooden tongue drum surfaced. I fell in love with this thing the first time I saw it, but making it resonate and tuning it would be a bitch if you don't have proper walkthrough. (of course I could just buy it, but the queue is too long)
Note: getting into playing these things is easy as they're tuned to pentatonic scale.

oh its one deal at a time. I need some new camping gear actually, as I'm doing lots of hiking this summer, not sure if this is my destination.Laemkral wrote:For those of us who also engage in outdoor activities, here's a bunch of sites (all related) that have great discounts on snowboard, skiing, skateboarding, backpacking, cycling, camping, and other sports equipment/clothing.

Re: Robby's Thread-o-Links
Yes, it's only one deal at a time, but a new deal pops up about every 15-30 minutes. It's not really the best resource if you're doing a full retrofit of your gear, better for just keeping an eye on at work because you never know what cool thing might happen to pop up that is a huge deal.Phact0rri wrote:oh its one deal at a time. Remember that story about the guy who tried to pay a bill with a spider?
http://www.27bslash6.com/easter.html?1
Well here's a story in a similar format, about a guy who got a permission slip for his child to go watch a religious play, with the "can attend" pre-checked.
Enjoy

Robby, that's hilarious.
Here's a flash Spongebob parody from youtube that I stumbled across one day. Audio not really work safe, visual may be but you could get some weird looks.

Some people are just not good at wit. David Thorne is one of those people.Killbert-Robby wrote:Remember that story about the guy who tried to pay a bill with a spider?

It's not surprising, since its either the same guy or he's a filthy plagiarist.Killbert-Robby wrote:Remember that story about the guy who tried to pay a bill with a spider?

Re: Robby's Thread-o-Links
I thought it was pretty amusing, but it was also very late at night and I did only glance through the huge walls of text. It was overkill and a little mean spirited for my taste, but I laughed and the drawing at the end made it worthwhile.
Re: Robby's Thread-o-Links
The one with the pie charts is probably one of the few where the victim deserves it. All in all, he comes across as an ass most of the time rather than funny.VeryCuddlyCornpone wrote:I thought it was pretty amusing, but it was also very late at night and I did only glance through the huge walls of text. Re: Robby's Thread-o-Links
Mmmh it's awfully tedious. Obviously at first he thought he run into a religious nut and figured he would mock the hell out of the guy, but the guy turns out to be rather tame and he decides to roll along with it now that it's started, and hopes that if he pokes the guy enough, something will ultimately come out, but it really doesn't. Reminds me how on idol auditions they sometimes edited the footage to make the participant look like a nut when it was rather obvious how the made cuts.

Re: Robby's Thread-o-Links
I'm a big fan of Sean Murphy's stuff, and just the guy himself, but I haven't gotten a look at his alphabet. It kinda makes me want to make an alphabet. Maybe I will...Killbert-Robby wrote:http://io9.com/5537654/wolverine-alphabet-gallery
