As a person who fought and bled in the great CG/Drunk Duck war, I have to say that I've been in my fair share of webcomic wars. This is hardly a war, just posturing back and forth like a bunch of North Koreas!! SOMEONE DRAW A GUEST STRIP AND TAKE A SWING AT SOMEONE ELSE'S CHARACTERS!

...and that is how you shall have your war!

Heed these words: I do not draw. Photos if you're lucky.

I did an enomous cameo scene with numerous webcomic characters paying hommage to my greatness. I called 'em out and blew 'em up on video. It's only day three, there are more cunning and ingenious attacks to come. Watch and learn.

(Also there's no bonus for guest art yet. I'm sure there shall be at some later point, at which time I will strike)!

You didn't really "call them out" so much as you showed a picture of their home page and then video of an explosion. But as far as an ad campaign goes it got me to check out your comic so it was successful in that respect.

The "getting attention by being a dick" style of advertising can be made to work if you do it right. But if you want this to work as a viral marketing campaign in the long run you have to amp up the dickshness. Right now you're going around calling people doodie heads. You need to start calling them Fuckwads™.

Better way to do this would be if you staged everything with other guys beforehand, then you'd know that they'd respond and that hell would break loose. This way they might just end up just ingoring it.
But as far as douchebagery and usury goes, I don't think this is particularly bad... I personally hate false advertising much more.

you copy/pasted their main page html into a video of random explosions that you 99.99% likely found online, and mushed them all together and claim to be epic?

Haha thanks for all your responses. I should perhaps have explained a bit more about the Webcomic War, like how the theme is Evil Genius, we're supposed to role-play it and it's a promotional competition. I participated last year (when the theme was Fantasy Gaming or some-such) and it was a lot of fun. IMO there are no loosers because it helps us all to find new readers which, lets face it, is webcomic GOLD! Anyway, I hope I didn't accidentally offend anyone. I was just playing my Evil Genius personna (might have got a bit carried away).

I did recieve some amusing responses to this video actually. I won't link 'em ('cos that would be helping the enemy) but you should find 'em below the original video on youtube. Man they made me LOL. Glad to see everyone is getting into the spirit of the thing!
