What are you getting those people who never go on the forums

Post by SergeXIII »

Kinda the opposite of that other thread...
What are you getting your friends and family (who never go on the forums) for Christmas/Hanukah/Kwanza/Festivus?

I'm getting
A friend of mine likes Oscar Wilde, I found an action figure of him. We should totally make him and Batman fight crime afterwards.
A friend of mine's favorite Street Fighter character is Sagat, found a starter kit of Sagat UFS cards.
A friend of mine loves Superman, got him a few Superman Graphic Novels.
My father is a fan of Hendrix, gonna draw him a poster.
My mother likes the Rolling Stones, so I guess I'll draw Mick Jagger and a Bear fighting crime (I don't know much about the Rolling Stones)
Haven't figured out what to get my sister yet.

what about you guys?

I have a BIG list, and sadly very few of them are into comics. One of my friends surprised me though, and said that if I drew her a picture, that would be the best Christmas present ever. When I asked what she'd like, she said, "surprise me. I trust your artist talent." But she likes lots of stuff--everything from Dragons to Dr. Who to my own sci-fi/horror/fantasy roleplaying game. So it's gonna be tough to settle on a subject.

I got one of my sister's into Buffy, so I'm getting her a season 7 DVD set.

I got my twin nephews a Mickey ride-on airplane. It's big, so I figure they can share it.

I'm hoping that big art check comes in so I can get my girlfriend an iPod. The art check should cover it.

Then there's the rest of my family, her family, and all the friends I'll be seeing at our annual X-Mas bash, including something for the white elephant game.

Yeah, this is the first year that I haven't gotten all my shopping done before November. I AM A SHOPPING FAILURE! Although I do suppose shopping for everyone won't be too bad since in my family we usually just tell each other exactly what we want. We don't need no surprises hahaha Friends can get little candies and that's it I ain't made of money, but it would be cool if I were.

You know what...I was just thinking about it and I only really have one Jewish friend...and I haven't seen him in forever! Lot's of Mormon friends though.

Eight really small gifts. May I suggest something not to do with Christmas!
I hope your not expecting me to make a joke not related to ninjas, pirates, Jesus, cyborgs, or a combination of all of those.

My sister is pretty estranged from my family. Doesn't talk to us, and tries not to stay at home (her room has a layer of dust all over it so thick its brown) because she never really grew out of the "pretending to be older than you actually are" phase of life. This makes gift giving for her im-freaking-possible, and it doesn't help that she really doesn't have much of a personality. One of those kinds of people that will emulate whatever interests her current boyfirend has, and doesn't really have any of her own. I do know shes a hair stylist, so she likes cutting hair n' shit.

I kinda want to get her a graphic novel about these identity issues, but I don't know any off the top of my head, well, any about females. Can anyone reccomend me one?

I've always been a fan of Carol Lay's work. Her strip, Story Minute, often deals with identity in a pretty damned witty and amusing fashion. She came out with an autobiography about her weight issues, called The Big Skinny, last year. Having weight issues is definitely an identity problem, but receiving a book about losing weight might have the wrong affect. Luckily, she has some compilations of Story Minute, and other narratives. Look up Strip Joint and Joy Ride and Other Stories. Although I haven't read it myself, Goodnight, Irene: The Collected Stories of Irene Van de Kamp sounds like it might be especially suited to your purposes.

As for what I'm getting those on my list, it's all art from me. Some toys and art supplies for the nieces and nephews.

From the topic title I thought this was a passive agressive jab at the people who either disappeared from the forums or only post very recently.

As for me, everyone gets DVDs. It's boxset mania this Christmas!

I'm hitting up the local used bookstore. My sister's gonna also get an old calculus book I meant to give her for her birthday. She's in 9th grade. Yes, she's too young. No, she won't appreciate it.

I'm around a pretty strange bunch of people.
So I just decided to get them pretty strange replicas from Full Moon's site, specifically the puppet master series.
The site had a killer sale. I got four battled damaged puppets.

Pinhead goes to the bro.
Blade goes to my little sister that has a strange fetish for anything sharp.
Jester goes to my best friend.
And Tunneler goes to my dad.
