I blame the current vampire craze on the Democrats. Vampires become popular whenever they take office. Just like Zombies become popular whenever Republicans take control. Seriously, how many zombie movies were released during the Bush administration? Resident Evils... 28 Days Later... and look at the popularity of World War Z when it came out. It's just the Vampires turn again... Like how Anne Rice became a demigod during the Clinton years.

Vampires = Aristocratic creatures who suck the life from unsuspecting people. (i.e. Republicans)
Zombies = Mindless masses of grotesque creatures with a craving for brains and a need to demolish society. (i.e. Democrats)

So whichever political party is in power dictates which monster will be the trendier beast at the time.
That's why I vote Green... I want Godzilla to make a comeback.

Me and my roommates rented Twilight our of morbid curiosity a couple months ago. I thought it was a terrible movie and still do, but I subsequently bought it and watched it three more times, and am dying to see New Moon. I'm a monster!!!

I enjoyed the movie also but not the sequels that much. I had high hopes for the film series to be the one to finally raise the werewolf to the same height as vampires. But then again I thought that about the Underworld series but still everyone still wanted to vampires after them.

As to vampires, growing up I often confused them with zombies. Because I'ld pefer the old world take on them, be nothing more than reanimated corpses that in some cases only "lived" for three days, could die by stuffing a lime in there mouth or be easily distracted by rice on the floor or fishnetting on the door. In short horrible creatures that didn't talk to their prey just ate them.

It's hard to argue with Kate Beckinsale in shiny black leather.

It means kinked hair, particularly that of but not limited to people of African decent. It's also sometimes used to refer to any squished hair that either is unwashed or just has an unwashed look, such as in this case.

So, um . . . what do you think it means? The "shallow serving dish" definition, or the "diaper" one?

I've honestly never heard it in a context where it wasn't terribly offensive and/or directed specifically at black people.

It's just between saying "faggotry" and "nappy-headed", I'm not getting a very good impression of Derek Dragomir. As in, if I threw around either of those words in every day speech I'd probably get my ass kicked.

It is generally not a term to be used because of its derogatory orgins. As Merc says, it's something to say if you want your ass kicked.

I have heard it used in racially derogatory context, too, but not all the time . . . in fact, not even most of the times I've heard it used. And I've lived pretty much my whole life in areas known for horrific race relations.

Even Dictionary.com and Urban Dictionary seem to have fewer racially derogatory definitions for the word than otherwise.
