The ultimate postcard swap of FUN AND LOVE

It's been on my mind for a while, and since MM talked about it today at the chat, I thought, why not? I organized a sort of event like this years ago that was a mild success. I think that we can try it again even if people say this community is not as shiny as ye olde times, but we can try.

As for the event itself, I'm thinking of a postcard swap of sorts. The rules:

- If you decide to join in, you pick a theme for yourself, as will all other parties
- After I close the applications, all members and their respective chosen themes will be listed
- Now the fun begins. Every person who joined must draw and send a postcard to all other members
- You must draw the card yourself, using any style, material or technique you feel like. But remember to put effort on it!
- The art in the postcard must follow the theme picked by the person you're sending it to (i.e., if my theme is "APPLE", I expect to receive postcards within this theme)
- The themes you can choose from are up to you, but be reasonable about. Don't ask for anything that would get the sender in trouble with their post office, or something they wouldn't be comfortable picturing.
- If you join this, you're expected to fullfill your quota. Don't back off, don't quit halfway, don't be a jackass. Play your part well and this will go smoothly.

And Beth, don't worry. I'm not weeding out anyone based on artistic merit. When I say "remember to put effort", it means just that: to make something nice within your abilities and limitations. It's just good old fun.

I think I'll close applications once we get four or five more people. Ten postcards each sounds reasonable as a starting point, right?

I need to double check postcard stamp rates but I know that international - everything not going to Canada or Mexico is $0.98 each. 10 each shouldn't be too much of a hassle.

Depends on how you approach it, for instance, I'd argue that most of Metallica's stuff falls under existentialism.

To answer a question: you don't have to provide a real name, if you're not embarrassed that people might use your forum handle and you can make sure that the card will get to you nonetheless.
