heh.

As I said above, at this point, the pro community knows what kind of man Rick is. It was a huge mistake for him to try to cheat people
with such sterling reputations as Chuck Dixon (the very DEFINITION of professional) and Val Staples (who sold all his possessions and moved in with his
parents to pay the artists cheated by Crossgen...for debts he didn't even OWE). He might've had better luck trying to slander Captain Marvel.

But we don't really have the word out to the small press and webcomics communities yet. The Small Press community has already seen a bit of Rick's
behavior, that's less of a problem, but the word has to go out to people doing what you do so well here at this site, as well.

On a nicer note, can you guys recommend your favorite small handful of strips to check out here?

I've looked at some, but there are so many it'd be nice to have some idea of which individual creators are doing
work you folks in this forum respect the most.

Any suggestions?

Con artist?

Maybe somebody ought to "bait" him, in the style of the 419 eater XD

£0.100 to the first person to get him "streded" in Abeche, Chad!
I MAKE MANY COMICS / Some are on paper! / Used to have one on Keenspace too...

I don't think you'd be able to find some consensus. I for instance like what these two guys are doing with their comics. This girl has a lot of talent too, and this other girl seems like an excellent artist. Then there's this guy who does some interesting stuff, and this other guy who has some sketches that are plain fun to look at.
But I've probably remembered them because they are hanging around, and forgot some notable people who are away right now.

I second that, Linkara! Kastle comics is an awesome strip. I even had a crush on the main character for a period of almost two days.

Hello I am sorry to be posting here but I don't know what else to do.

There is a person here named Mattdocmartin. He keeps sending me harassing PM messages. First he said I was Rick Olney. Then he said I was someone called Crowley. Then he said I was Nick Chumbly(sp?) He is asking me for my personal information but I don't know him at all and never spoke to him before. I told him very politely if he wanted to talk to use this thread and I would reply and not to PM me. He then messaged me a second time and and third and a fourth and etc.. I have told him I feel harassed and you know what he said? He said because I wont tell him who I am, he doesn't have to heed my request. He says he isn't harassing me. Well I feel a man twice my age sending me unwanted messages over and over is the definiation of harassment.

I wrote the moderator and she said she can't do anything but lock threads and to contact the admin. So i wrote them but they havent read the PM yet. I am sure they eventually will as I am sure they are a busy person and it is the weekend. I just dont know what to do because from what I can tell he has anger issues and I dont want this person bothering me anymore. If you know him please tell him to leave me alone. Please?

Thank you and again I am sorry for this offtopic post but I didnt know where else to put it

Hrrm. Interesting, considering Mattdocmartin is an active member of the thread about Rick Olney back on Gail's forum, and he is most certainly a part of Unscrewed and yet on the forum it was you who first went on the attack against him and claimed he wasn't part of it.

Can the admins confirm that BigMack isn't a sockpuppet? I'm not sure how such software works, so I wouldn't know how to check that.

Hello,

If you read my post again, you will see I said he was not affiliated with unscrewedcomic.com. That, unless something has changed within the last month is accurate. The thread on YABS "Rick Olney--Fibber or Mega-Giganta-Fibber?" may be where Unscrewed started, the website and group as they say and make clear is not about Rick Olney. He was just the first case. They help people get money they are owed.

Where Matt Martin posted has been repeatedly stated by Gail Simone, the Admin here and the moderator at Noses Optional, is not the place to bring up, or discuss any matters related to Rick Olney.

Was I wrong to say he acts like a bully at times? Perhaps. I should not bring my opinion into my post. However since he has sent me over half a dozen unwanted messages, asked me for personal information repeatedly, accused me of being people I am not and has used language I would never use or allow to be said to me in person, I think I was quite accurate in my initial opinion. I never said he was bad. His intents are certainly good. However his actions in many cases and certainly in how he has treated me needs to stop. I should not have to be afraid to come here that he will again harass me after I have asked him multiple times to leave me alone.

Perhaps you are unaware of the number of times people have asked him to stop attacking someone. Perhaps you are unaware of the times his friends have said he has anger issues and needs to stop posting at times. If you search for them in the YABs forum, you can find the posts as I did.

You know why I posted what I did? Because Rick Olney has cheated so many people out of money it makes me mad enough to cry. He is a terrible person and everyone should be made aware of that. Yet the way Mr. Martin posts to the Noses Optional forum has caused the people there to immediately disregard anything anyone says about Rick Olney or Unscrewed. He hurts the cause of Unscrewed because to the people of Noses Optional, he is the face of Unscrewed and since they feel harassed by him, they won't give the group a chance.

As for my being a sock puppet. I ask why is it that both he and you right away say sock puppet? What have I said that is untrue or would need for someone to hide behind a sock puppet?

Thank you for reading, I apologize for the length.

Well, that's the kind of thing Unscrewed is trying to fight. Have you talked to anyone there? May I ask what con this happened at?

It makes me very angry to see people cheated like that!

Not sure where Dotty's gone, but I can answer this one! It was the UK Webcomics Thing, Dotty paid (£40 or so) for a table but in the end couldn't fly over to England, but the con manager kept the money anyway stating that if Dotty couldn't make it over, it's her own problem. I believe the reasons she couldn't make it were medical too, so it was doubley annoying.

BigMack,

I don't believe you are a sockpuppet and I think you are only trying to help.

Rick's had a long history of sockpuppetry, he's been busted on it more than once, but I
always prefer to just assume people are telling the truth until the evidence says otherwise.

There is absolutely no reason for anyone to be hassling you for your personal information, period.

And thanks for trying to clarify matters on the NO forum.

Best,

Gail

Gail,

Thank you so much for this reply. You will never have any idea how much it means for me to have someone I respect and like as much as you say this.

I am trying to do my best to help matters. I don't like posting but I talk to people in private and I am making friends. It is much easier to convince a friend of something then to just show up and tell strangers that someone they know has done wrong.

I also am glad you said no one should hassle me for personal information. Matt Martin said because I wouldn't tell him what he wanted he didn't have to listen to my request to stop bothering me. I knew that wasn't true but having you say it makes me feel better. I showed my dad the PMs I was sent last night and he said I did the right thing to contact the moderator and you.

Didn't someone end up buying Dotty's table from her? I also recall she had medical problems, and that the con manager required her to send a medical excuse from her doctor, which I think she did. And then the manager still did nothing.

Some people really need a good swift kick in the crotch.

I guess my comment way back there was a little unclear... I didn't mean to accuse you of anything, Bigmac, I was talking about Mattdocmartin and the PMs you were getting. I withdraw any and all comments I have made, based upon my total ignorance of the actual situation.
I think you mean some guys, Rkolter. I honestly don't know what I would do about a female con-artist... goddamn chivalry (my chivalry.)

Hi,

No your comment was clear and I know you were talking about him and the unwanted PMs (8 at last count) he has been sending me. He is currently trying to troll the Noses Optional forum but the moderator there has asked everyone not to reply to him. Hopefully he will get tired and leave us alone or if he keeps it up be banned.

I find it very telling about his character that he will only harass me and the other women in PM and a fourum he's not supposed to post in and when I said for him to post here in the appropriate area, he refused. It's almost as if he thinks we are easy victims and he'd be too scared to act that way around others here. He found out that I'm no one's victim!
