Half a Decade.

Post by Cartoonme »

Wow, I have been doing my comic now for 5 years. It really doesn't feel like it has been that long but I'm glad I am still having fun with it. It has definitely help my artistic skills as well as my writing. I saw a few other people sharing there milestones so I thought I share mine as well.

I hope I can make as much progress of the next 5 years.

Yay.

Congrats! (coming up on two years myself)
I like today's comic. That meconium is some rude stuff, although I find myself thinking fondly of those times every time I ask my middle-schooler to clean his room.

Congrats, thats a hell of an accomplishment. I'm hoping to get through a year of doing this new venture without wanting to scrap it.

Sweet! Congratulations!

I'm working on keeping a comic running for half a year, let alone half a decade.

Well done! :D

There are definitely times where you'll feel like quiting or scrapping the comic and doing something new. I think everyone goes through times when they feel that there comic sucks (I know I have had these times) or no one cares about it or some jelousy over another comic, you feel isn't great, has way more fans than you, etc...

I don't know if it is just me being hard on myself or just my constant desire to get better but this happens every so often and I don't expect it to ever stop happening. Usually I'll struggle through these time and things will get better. It happens with everything in life so why would it be different here.

Just keep sluggin' away.

Not just you. Yeah, you see some of the comics out there that have tens or hundreds of thousands of readers and can only think - WHY?!? Some obviously deserve such fame. Others... not so much. :P It can be very discouraging. Just gotta try to keep it in perspective. Think of how many readers you do have, and how much space you'd need to fit them all in one group together. All those people like your comic enough to make the effort to keep coming back to read it. Actually picturing the audience that is really quite interested in your comic can be very motivational. :D

In general it went pretty fast - but if I look at the pile of original strips and think about drawing the earliest ones, it seems like it's been five years. :)

When you think of it that way it does seem like a really long time. The original art of my comic makes me cringe for the most part and it does seem like a really long time since doing that.
