<b>Will you be participating in FCBD this year?</b>
Chris Crosby: Apparently not, as all three titles were rejected by Diamond on the advisement of their FCBD committee. The reason given was "no core title being currently published, or the current books sales not warranting the FCBD promotional support."
It seems likely that we?ll go ahead with the publication of our planned FCBD titles as Comic-Con giveaways instead. But it won't be the same.

This is extremely disappointing, though I give Chris Crosby kudos for wanting to go ahead with the comics anyhow, even if they'll be promotional giveaways.
Now if only someone could work on removing that other hideous logo.

And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do.. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time! ..But He loves you." -George Carlin

I'm disappointed about Diamand doing this, but what are we going to do when it's the only distributor of print comics? And one aspect was correct... why would a company interested in making money selling comics want to promote free comics? Hmm... Why would a company that sells software be interested in promoting free software?[cause you charge for support nyahaha!]
Though really, maybe we've been going about this the wrong way, maybe we should be releasing print versions of webcomics like we have free newspapers (that are partially owned by pay newspapers incidently.) But you know, the webcomic format does not completely adapt to print.

Anyway, just a thought.
Yay! Another reason to dislike Diamond! I was forgetting to hate them recently. Anyway, I like the "print webcomics" idea. Sure, the webcomic format doesn't completely adapt to print, but I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who would be able to adapt their web material to print. I'd wager that only the uninitiated or foolish would be drawing or scanning their webcomics at 72dpi, without giving much thought to the archival purposes of higher-res digital masters. Also, as far as more experimental webcomics go, maybe those who would be interested in seeing print could be goaded into making more print-specific comics to place on paper. You know, sort of as a form of advertisement for their web work, or whatever.
I dunno. Just thinking with my keyboard.

Wow. That really stinks, guys. Diamond definitely has a lot of stuff wrong with it and needs to move into the 21st century just a little. Sorry, but at least all the hard work won't be in vain.
