Best individual pages of webcomic art...

Post by Alschroeder »

Very rarely do I go to webcomics and get a feeling of being blown away by the art....often I feel it's a result of our constant battle to get something usable, that doesn't take forever to load, that can take one's breath away....

But then I come across something awe-inspiring, and just go...WHOA!! Like I used to do on Jack Kirby full page grandeur as a kid...

I'm nominating two examples...by all means add your own. Single pages that truly struck you as excellent....from webcomics. Stuff that reminded you how pitiful the stuff is that you or others do---and what it COULD be.

...Need I add....anything ELSE on those sites, by those artists, is worth seeing? These are just the cream of a superior crop. ---Al

The second link you posted was very nice. Lovely composition and use of color.

I was actually just looking at Dresden Codak yesterday. It does look really good, and it's actually entertaining. Something I should strive for in a comic.

I agree on both counts, even though I barely looked at the Codak one because I realized it was probably a spoiler, I haven't gotten that far yet. I really think the art is interesting in both "comics", lots of experimental, pseudoreligious, pseudoscientific, and metaphorical density.

As a side note, there are often links to well done comics in the Blogunder Codak from what I've seen (as there are under mindmistress). For example, it at least once linked to A Lesson Is Learned...

Wellllll....no offense, but tastes differ. Why not show us something you think is good? Single page from a webcomic that impressed you. --Al

I've always been rather partial to this page:

and this entire sequence:

My comics bookmarks are getting out of hand. I need to reorganize, because I can't find a damned thing right now.

I found this comic from Sorcery101 the other day:

Family Man, by Dylan Meconis (creator of Bite Me, if you remember that gem of humor). Check out this page.

Hmmm. I seem to be the only one liking the Pastel Defender one---oh, well,
maybe it's just me.

Still, some REALLY good stuff on this thread I haven't seen before. Keep it up! I think this is one thread that might run for a while...

One of the things I miss about Inverloch is the creamy, yet professional, quality of the art.

http://inverloch.seraph-inn.com/viewcomic.php?page=489

leveL is good for its intricate, eerie backgrounds.

http://www.levelmanga.com/level.php?pag ... over=false

There are probably better examples for both of these, but I this is what I found in about five minutes, and I'm lazy.
This is going in my notebook titled "Things I Didn't Know about Surface Dwellers."

The level of detail in the metaphysics is certainly jaw-dropping! Makes me want to read the comic just to see how it's universe relates to that map.
