Just curious. @__@Note: You should always have your Newsbox prominently on your MAIN comic page.

Just curious. @__@Copyright may subsist in creative and artistic works (e.g. books, movies, music, paintings, photographs, and software) and give a copyright holder the exclusive right to control reproduction or adaptation of such works for a certain period of time (historically a period of between 10 and 30 years depending on jurisdiction, more recently the life of the author plus several decades).

#1. My comic isn't a sprite comic, I draw it by hand.Kirb wrote:I was bouncing from webcomic to webcomic via newsbox, and I noticed that Earthboundwish's (the one I ended up at...) don't have original characters at all. I tried refreshing, and nope, still no original characters in sight... Is this against Digital Multimedia Copyright Act and Intellectual Law policy?
Just curious. @__@
Your webcomic is clear to come aboard:
* If it uses trademarked characters that you drew yourself, but you recognize the trademarks on your website or in the comic itself.
Shouldn't that be reserved for the OP, Mcduffies? He is, after all, the one back-seat moderating and spamming on people's tagboards and PMs about the issue.mcDuffies wrote:Kirb, watch for mallet.
I don't see Nintendo or Itoi suing fancomics over on Starmen.net either. I would expect a "cease and desist" notice if I was selling my fancomic in book form, but I don't ever plan on doing that.Kirb wrote:You miss the point entirely.
I am doing the exact same thing you were doing. Complaining over a technicality that nobody really minds.
Except, my passive-aggressive complaint actually has merit, as I'm pretty sure International Copyright law has presidence over Comicgenesis.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA.earthboundwish wrote: I actually switched some of the character's genders around in my fancomic. The whole point of it is to get people who haven't played EarthBound to get interested in playing the game, or for people who have already played EarthBound to enjoy a slightly different version with added detail.
I know this, I was trying to prove a point. You don't see Nintendo or Itoi suing fancomics, even though, like it or not, it is illegal and if they actually knew of them, would probably not approve.earthboundwish wrote:I don't see Nintendo or Itoi suing fancomics over on Starmen.net either. I had a special place for the newsbox in my extras page as well. But I'm glad you're apologizing and I accept the apology. No harm done.I'll admit it, I put short messages on 2 tagboards to see what kind of reaction I would get. Only 2! I certainly didn't post 99-bajillion messages on them, and I didn't say anything extremely rude. I apologize, I won't do it again. I apologize especially to Mort, since I never thought to check the links section (now I know). Now I am aware of everyone's opinion on the subject and I will shut up.
The PM thing was my fault. I apologize.Earthboundwish wrote:I however, did not PM anyone harassing them about it, so I have no idea what you're talking about there.
