Do you remember your first day/s in CG/Keenspace?
- I was unoffical a part via being married to one. So joining wasn't too much of a fuss.
Did you remember having any problems?
- Yes, Ryan got hell for being the first person to put in the box. Damnit! I thought I sneak in without getting put in it. But nooo, he had to do it.
How did you first find CG/Keenspace?
- I was wondering why my husband keep taking about all these strange people like they were family members. Granted a messed up dyfunctional one.
Who were your idols?
- Uh, I don't recall.
Did you have any friends who helped you?
- I knew of a few locals who help me with the ropes besides Ryan.
How did your comic do at first?
- Comic? What's that? Seriously I don't have one. I just am the moral support behind Ryan's and co-host of the Cookout.
Anything else?
I could go for some ice cream about now.

Do you remember your first day/s in CG/Keenspace? I am still in my first days. Have only been here a few weeks and only really recently brave enough to face the forums.
Did you remember having any problems? Even after my website was picked up by DNS, I could not log into site admin even using my forum name and password. Suddenly, one day, it worked even though I didn't do anything different. Maybe it was just slow at catching up.
How did you first find CG/Keenspace? I followed a link to a webcomic months ago, I don't even recall which one it was because I ended up not caring for it. I was considering doing a webcomic then so I saved the link to CG.
Who were your idols? Nobody but I do have some favorite CG comics. They're linked from my page.
Did you have any friends who helped you? No
How did your comic do at first? I have a small following already, I'm almost surprised. CG is one of those hit and miss styles. People either love it or hate it, there's very little in-between.
Anything else? I've been pleasantly surprised by my experiences on the forums. This is a nice community and people here are nicer than some places I've visited. Many art sites I belong to are viper's nest and I was wary coming here. Even the people who don't care much for my kind of art (3d/CG) have been nice
I'd be flamed into oblivion on some other sites for daring to use it.

Do you remember your first day/s in CG/Keenspace?
That would be today. ^^; So far its been me working my way around FTP and how to set up my site.
Did you remember having any problems?
Problems? Nope, is all good. I am having difficulties... but really its just learning how things work and reading tutorials.
How did you first find CG/Keenspace?
I think I found it through Keenspot after reading some of the comics there are following a link. That or the infernal Google.
Who were your idols?
Eeeh.... too many to name. I look through comics often and just wanted to make a start on my own, however much I might not know about how to do so.
Did you have any friends who helped you?
I've got a twin sister who reads my comic pages. A couple of people on Deviantart who comment on my stuff.. but no real critique. Still, even if I'd prefer to hear constructive criticism, encouragement is always needed.
How did your comic do at first?
I'll have to wait and find out.

Do you remember your first day/s in CG/Keenspace?
I do have trouble remembering that far back sometimes... But yes, im fairly sure that I can remember my first day here.
Did you remember having any problems?
Yeah, I pretty much walked through the door and ran into a brick wall =3 I'm still waiting on my password, and well, don't really know what im getting into. So I plan on just making it up as I go along!
How did you first find CG/Keenspace?
I asked a friend if he knew of any hosting sites. The first one he could think of was comicgenesis, but he described it as "A bitch to register to"
Who were your idols?
At the moment I can't say i've been here long enough to have one. Ill get back to that one ;3
Did you have any friends who helped you?
Theres always the help forum, Black Sparrow seems to be a wealth of information. I plan on talking to my friend Chris to see if he will help me learn html (I haven't bothered yet, like I said, make it up as I go) And well, my boyfriend is the comic co-creator ^.< With our combined IQ's we have a number high enough to freeze water! We are going to apply that to a comic, which, will start hopefully as soon as I have my password.
How did your comic do at first?
I imagine that it wont do very well. I expect that though, i'm not here for publicity.
Anything else?
Toasters in the oven, be back later~

Now, see that seems like a good idea. What's the fun of a problem-free initiation?mcDuffies wrote:If you want we can make you problems, that'd be an awesome thing to remember one day.
For that one I'll contribute the ever-useful answer of 'it depends'.Cuendolin wrote:is kissing on the first date right?

Vorticus - back rub extraorndiante
The Mortician - jolly good chap
Turnsky - jolly good chap
MrBob - awesome drawing skills
/end of pointless name dropping

Do you remember your first day/s in CG/Keenspace?
Yeah. I was excited about doing a comic. It's something I wanted to do since I stumbled upon sluggy freelance.
Did you remember having any problems?
Not really. It bothered me that I couldn't start comicking as soon as I signed up, but oh well.
How did you first find CG/Keenspace?
Uhh... I did a google search for comic uploads or something equally ludicrous.
Who were your idols?
Billy?
Did you have any friends who helped you?
I knew nobody going into the forums. My girlfriend encouraged me. Still does, sometimes.
What helped was plugging, being hazed, getting pissy about it, and then being defended and people giving me useful tips for making my comic better. Some of which I used.
Thanks, by the way, to those of you who remember all those 3 years ago, for being nice. Eventually. >.>

Do you remember your first day/s in CG/Keenspace?
Vaguely. I joined in June '03, got my webspace in September, but didn't join the forums till about January. Even then I pretty much lived in the Dropdowns&Crossovers forum for months.
Did you remember having any problems?
Nah. I was totally intimidated and worried that I might make a horrible impression, so I just lurked in D&C and GD for ages, whoring my comic when I could, but otherwise trying to be polite until I caught the flow of things.
How did you first find CG/Keenspace?
A friend linked me to Something Positive, which I read entirely in the span of two nights. From there I moved to Queen of Wands, and to Devil's Panties - which was on Keenspace at the time, so I ended up on the Keenspace site and contemplated putting up my own comic. I had two of them sort of running at the time, and, being bored out of my mind, decided to sign up.
Who were your idols?
I'm not sure, really. I was intimidated by everyone, I think, simply because I was new and wasn't entirely sure how to fit in. Anyone who was widely recognized and respected (ie Duffies, Mr.Bob, Kisai) had my attention though.
Did you have any friends who helped you?
Dawg is the one who jumps to mind. :3
Everyone was hugely helpful to me, really - I never had any major problems with anyone.
How did your comic do at first?
Meh, it did all right. I didn't really care about viewers at the time, though, because I don't think I expected anyone to like my comic. I just had fun making it, and still do.
Anything else?
Holy shit, a thunderstorm just blew in. Maybe I should shut down my computer...

After my first few days here, I'm starting to feel more than qualified to write my own 'How Not to Design a Website in 10 hours". Tally-ho!
What horrors lie within it?? Autokeen accustomisation, perhaps? Or even HTML 're-education'?

Sounds pretty rough. My main problems have been in trying to get my site fully compatible with both firefox and IE. Despite the warnings of a variety of sitcoms, you could always try BUYING friends...game misconduct wrote:Oh god. I had problem updating the site. I was editting public instead workspace folders. I also didn't make any friends immediately and still haven't with anyone. It was disaster unfolding each day, week, and month.

Do you remember your first day/s in CG/Keenspace?
- I hung out in the Help center and TT&T a lot, emerging only from my burrow to get in small flamewars with jerks
.
- McDuffies drew me naked with underwear on my head.
- Probably a link from somewhere.
- Ping was cool, and so was faub.
- I made quick friends with Soap and War.
- Dawg loved it since the beginning!
- I showed up with a lot of fun people, I couldn't have picked a better time.
