Suddenly, Boris got doused in liquid nitrogen.
...and all this time I thought they were talking about me behind my back.
Funny the stuff one finds when Googling one's own comic.Jim North wrote:I think the best one, however, is that The KAMics became "In spite of the face that Fireplace".
Kind of surprised you had even heard of my comic. (Must have been that furry thread on Cornstalker.)
That translation is interesting because back in the '80s I wrote a comic book script about a guy seeing a woman's face in a fireplace. (The story was accepted but the magazine went bankrupt before publication.)
As for people saying wrong things about my comic the only thing I can think of is everyone thinking Brunhilda is the blonde despite the fact that brun usually translates to "dark" or "brown" (as in brunette).

Yeah, that's normally true. In the case of 'Brunhilda' ('Bruenhilda' in German), however, the name actually derives from 'Bruenne' (got. 'brinna'), meaning breastplate. It translates to something like 'the armored beauty'- in the legends, all of Odin's warrior daughters have such martial names. And they are usually pictured as blondes, especially since the 19th century, so that's probably what gets some of your readers onto the wrong track.KAM wrote:As for people saying wrong things about my comic the only thing I can think of is everyone thinking Brunhilda is the blonde despite the fact that brun usually translates to "dark" or "brown" (as in brunette).

To think this is the kind of thing I have to look forward to when my comic gets completely up and running in a steady manner and (if it) gets popular enough to comment about offhand.
And I haven't had such a chance for someone to be horridly mislead by my comic, but in the past my art style used to change a lot, spanning from realistic to cartoony, so I had a lot of comments about not being who I said I was or stealing artwork and saying it was mine.
Yes, my artwork was that wonked. I've gotten more consistent with practice, but it's difficult for me because my vision on things just always tends to bend and change and I can never remember how to color/shade/draw the way I did once before. That's the main reason my comic is in a highly-stylized, highly-simplified form. If I get too specific, I'll forget how I did it and things will go all wonky again as I try desperately to remind myself how I did it.

Back when Ataraxia Theatre was printed on dead trees, I did have one reviewer comment that I didn't credit any of my artists... Um, that's because I drew everything myself. I would have thought that despite the style changes, the fact that each page was consistently poorly-drawn should have tipped them off to that.CottontailCouriers wrote:And I haven't had such a chance for someone to be horridly mislead by my comic, but in the past my art style used to change a lot, spanning from realistic to cartoony, so I had a lot of comments about not being who I said I was or stealing artwork and saying it was mine.

Man ... I get labeled a plageurist and you just get dinged for not giving credit to your artists.
At least it isn't just me that has problems with consistency in a big enough way that people REALLY notice.

I have problems crediting all monkeys with typewriters of mine.ataraxia wrote:Back when Ataraxia Theatre was printed on dead trees, I did have one reviewer comment that I didn't credit any of my artists... Actually that's the neat thing about having an infinite number of monkeys: you only actually need them for an infinitesimally small amount of time. Because they'll actually write all the works of Shakespeare instantly. As well as Dickens, Chaucer, the Bronte Sisters, Homer, Ovid, Hugo, and the complete scripts to all the episodes of every Star Trek series... plus every piece of Star Trek fanfiction ever written. Plus your diary. Plus everyone else's diaries.Black Sparrow wrote:Yeah, where are you supposed to fit infinite monkeys with infinite typewriters, anyway? Who has the time?mcDuffies wrote:I have problems crediting all monkeys with typewriters of mine.
And mostly a lot of random gibberish.
Assuming you also have an infinite amount of paper and typewriter ribbon of course.
