Who Links You?

Post by SergeXIII »

I asked this question on a different thread, but it seems it should have is own zam. Simple enough: what comics have linked your comics?

G'nerds2000 has been linked by:

Killbert
Concesion
Go Fish
Essence

Follow up question: have you linked the comics that linked you?
Yup.

Edit
That is if its appropriate for the age rating (i.e. no porn). The way I see it, is that the dude or dudet who linked me liked my comic, thus something about the way i do things clicked with that person. Therefore, someone who likes my comic may in turn find something they like in the other comic as well. Very Dewey kinda theory goin on there zam.

I don't even remember--I lost a lot of links when I decided to go on hiatus for like forever. But off the top of my head:

C'est La Vie
Intershadows
The Wrong Band
The End Of Things
Picatrix
Reckless Youth
Head Doctor Productions
LinT
Cube30
Freedom Fries
Yamara
Lemmy
Where Gods And Mortals Dance
Flinch
Hopscotch

I'm also currently buying advertising space from Questionable Content and Starslip Crisis, both of which I recommend--reading and buying ad space, that is. My traffic has gotten substantially higher for a pretty reasonable price, and hopefully at least some of them will stick around once the ad expires.

the only one that I'm aware of that has linked me is:
http://mayihelpyou.comicgenesis.com by L. Hall
though I have been linked by starlit Destiny (http://starlit.comicgenesis.com) when I did fan-art for his two year anniversary.

I do link back to those who link me in some fashion or other, Starlit is linked in the fan-art section, and MayI Help you is linked in both fan-art and on my links page/section. But I'm not going to link someone on my links page just because they link me, I have to actually like the comic to do that. Not that anyone cares.
OT-Lol! Shows how bad my eyes are, I thought the topic was "Who Likes you?"

Do you primarily mean other CG comics? Yesterday I discovered awesome linkage and review from Yamara, and I know a few other non-CG comics that link to me, like Fluff in Brooklyn. But I'll have to google and check whether there are any links on CG.

I have a section linking my favourite comics, but need to explore CG more and add some of my neighbours. I do have the rotating advert.

I'm not sure whether any of the Big Popular Comics that sell banner space would have the right audience for something like my comic. I wonder, though, if Serge might be right. I mean, I love Schlock Mercenary; but would the Schlock fans love reading about a bunch of Roman soldiers in short tunics? Hmm.

ETA: I don't think I'd automatically link on my front page to comics that link me, but I'd think about having a separate links page with "comics that link to me," unless there was something outrageously scary about the other comic....

I would say so. Lemme explain the Dewey thing: In a massive nutshell, dewey says that the meaning of art lies within the artist predicting what his audience wants and the audience evaluating how and why the artist did what he did zam.
Right, maybe your audience is looking for a good war tale? Maybe something historical? It might even be that they apreciate your art and see something similar in another artist's style.

Is there an easy way to figure out who links to you? I'm too stupid to figure out reverse-searches without major assistance.....sigh....

I just go into my stats for a month and see if there is a full comic adress (if http is absent, then whoever got to your comic did so through a newsbox add) in your refferences list.

Legostar Galactica, Emergency Exit, Undead Friend, Beyond Reality, Tales of the Traveling Gnome, Indefensible Positions, Playing With Knives, Atavism, Tales of Pylea, The Avatar, Project Adam, Bad Ass Muthas, and Coiling Spine come to mind. Might be some more.

All of those are in my links page too, though that's cause I read them, not cause they linked me (though by linking me I might see the referrer, read the comic, and link back if I like it).

I thought newsboxes showed up as http://guide.comicgenesis.com/newshack.php

Eitherway, you can also google "link:[your comic's url here]" or just your comics name or your name.
I, in the other thread, wrote:Lex Aeterna
Bathathon Heled
Cold Servings
The Thirteenth Month
Pillars of Faith
Warriors of Polithia
Drunken Scribblings
A Webcomic Called Atavism
Emergency Exit
Undead Friend
Fainting Spells
TiLe
Det Femte Ess
Turing's Folly II - The Adventures Of Phil
Starship Moonhawk.

Black Streaks may also be linking to me. I can't find the link but I regularly get hits from there.
EDIT: Also Playing With Knives. Forgot that one.

EDIT EDIT: Also Distant Eras. (It's getting hard to keep track.)

"Yeah, that's the bridge pier (expletive). I thought it was the center. Oh (expletive)." ~ From the transcript of the recording device on board the ship which struck the San Franciso Bay Bridge last year, causing a 50,000 gallon oil spill.

The Lounge
Blue Zombie
CrebHeads!
Ded End

whenever I do actually work on my comic, it annoys me that I still get most of my referrals (non direct) from The Lounge, as I have despised it since it turned into one big sex joke

This thread is cool since it's like, reverse linking! Mindboggling!

PD, Coiling Spine, the Avatar, Distant Screaming, Gnomes, Dr. Hamstructo, Good 'n Evil, Zombination ... I think that's it...

I am grateful to the following folks for putting me on their Links page:

No Pink Ponies
Fainting Spells
Legendary
War Babies
Debt On
Elftor

Crazy In Love doesn't have a links page, but I'm linked on the home page, which is way cool.

I was a "featured link" on Mindmistress recently but no trace of the link exists anymore as far as I can ascertain. I appreciate Al linking me, though, even if only temporarily.

One Liners has a link to me on one page of its archives.

I occasionally get hits from various blogs, and usually when I visit them I can't find any reference to my strip, but an exception to that is Number 12, who I believe has secured the honor of publishing the first-ever online review of my strip. Here's to ya, No. 12.

I also keep getting hits from this place but I have no idea why, I couldn't find any links to me there.

If anyone else has linked to me and I have failed to acknowledge it, please berate me publicly in this thread. I deserve it.

I'm not really certain who has linked me...here's a few I can remember off the top of my head...

Thatguy - (he's been dropping by for years)
War of the Winds - (I think)
Talismen
Life's A Witch - (must remember to put one up for you, too. I like it)

I've possibly missed a few, but I appreciate them all the more for their absense in this list.

I've got some links in archive pages in blurbs and whatnot, but I don't really keep track of these things. Maybe I should...

I know I've been linked by Nanda's comic Ugly Girl and Vort's comic Playing With Knives (recently ended, much sadness). I of course link to both of them as I also read their comics.

Beyond that, don't think I'm linked to by anyone else, and if I am....no one is clicking those links.

EDIT: I am a total failure!! There's a Civilization on My Fork links to IAR and I forgot because it's on my "To Read" list and not the "Do Read" list!
