I didn't even get that much. Stupid "Spanish name" rule....

what's up with that, anyway? what makes a teacher think that you'll be more likely to learn a different language by forcing you to learn a different name as well?!?!?
Wow, that IS a pretty stupid rule. Only in America, I guess...
Faith is what credulity becomes when it finally achieves escape velocity from the constraints of terrestrial discourse- reasonableness, internal coherence, civility, and candor. Thus, the men who commited the atrocities of September 11 were neither cowards nor lunatics of any sort, but Men of Faith- perfect faith- and this, it must finally be acknowleged, is a terrible thing to be.

I would assume. Though I only have experience in rural Arkansas...and TV's Saved by the Bell.

What? Like you didn't watch it!

Bloody hell that show was horrible.

indeed it was. which means there must've been some sort of subliminal message brainwashing people into seeing it more than once.

I jumped ship on that program when it stopped being "Good morning Miss Bliss".

It was too unreal, anyway. No one talked using "like" every ten seconds, the way the young whippersnappers across the border do.

I've actually known several people who used "like" every ten seconds. In high school mostly. But I live in California, so. . .

I never got the "Spanish name" thing. However, if I were to be teaching a Spanish class, I would require students to speak in a Spanish accent whenever they spoke English.

And which "spanish accent" exactly? Chicano? Norther mexican? Chilean? argentine? One of the many that exist within that tiny territory known as Spain?

Silly Jex. There's only one way to speak Mexican. That's why I'm glad to be in America, where we have no accents.

On a serious note (more serious than the first have of this post, anyway), I appreciate the giving-names-consistent-with-the-language-you're-studying thing we do up here. Kinda puts you more in the culture that teeniest bit. And you're likely to learn new names that while you may not run into in the US are actually quite popular in other parts of the world.

I didn't like that if I'd kept my real name the only difference would've been one letter:

I once had a dream that was like Knight Rider set in Germany (and the guy had a Toyota), if i ever get around to making a comic about that i would ideally have the speech bubbles in german with english "subtitles". But at the moment the dialouge would be restricted to "Hello" "Good evening" "Hospital" "Yes" "No" and "1,2,3,4,5,6,8,9,10" XD
I MAKE MANY COMICS / Some are on paper! / Used to have one on Keenspace too...

I had a class in Spanish that was like that. They gave me the name 'Randolpho'. I said, "Now wait a damn minute..." but it was too late. If that's actually a common name in any Spanish speaking country I'd feel a tiny bit better. But I don't think it is. What a way to spend a school year. "Hey Ran-DOL-pho!" "How's it going, Ran-DOL-pho?"

It was not pretty.

That name doesn't exist. The closest would be Rodolfo, which would make you Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer; still, no Randolfo. If you weren't so damn old, I'd say your teacher had seen too much Simpsons ("Senior Spielbergo", anyone?)

[EDIT] Ack, forgot Teh English Nazis took out all proper non-english punctuation from the forums.
