2008 Final Ballot Posted

Post by MHPayne »

Folks:

Going to http://ccawards.com/2008finalists.html will show you which webcomics got the most nominations from their fellow webcartoonists for 2007. Voting on this Final Ballot will begin Friday, February 8th, so you can get out and familiarize yourselves with the nominees.

I'll be e-mailing out voting instructions on Friday as well.

Mike, the Registrar

Hey, I was wondering why Penny Arcade is up for some, didn't they say a while ago that they weren't interested and didn't want to be included?

Oh hey, thanks for the nominations, whoever nominated me! ^_^

I got a cryptic congratulations message from someone, and this was the only contest I could think that of he might be referring to... lol.

I haven't heard anything to that effect:

All I know is that they've had nominations every year since 2003 though they haven't won anything since 2004. I'm a statistical guy, apparently... :)

well...

I just wanted to say that I think it kinda "sucks" that every year it's the same 4 people nominated for every award. I think they should put a cap on how many categories/times a comic can show up on the awards list.

Just my opintion...

It can look like that:

Can't it? :)

But if you want to wade through my Annual Statistics from last year, you'll see that we get a pretty good turn-over of titles...

Exactly -- the interesting (and not so surprising) trend for any "popular" form of entertainment is to peak for a period of about 2-4 years, then fade away to the background, so to speak.

I expect that in another 2 or so years, very few of the comics listed today will be in the winner's circle, much less the finalists' circle. It won't mean that these comics are suddenly not good anymore, but rather just that new comics will have captured the spotlight for their turn at 15 minutes of fame...

Be patient, and you'll start to notice the changes, too.
