Why Wasn't PockyBot Nominated?

Just curious why PockyBot( http://www.pockybot.com/ ) wasn't nominated at all this year? Outstanding newcomer, outstanding art, outstanding use of existential 3am cyberpunk MMORPG spoofing? Just a bit perplexed it didn't even gain one nimination, despite being around for about a year with a lot of hard work.( Also, why wasn't my personal faves Radioactive Panda, Apple Geeks or Bolt City recognized? )

Was PockyBot even discussed between the judges?

Cory (may I call you that?), that's not how it works. If you did not get any nominations, it's probably because Pockybot doesn't have enough people that elected you. The nominations can be made by pretty much everyone who registers to do so, as long as they have a webcomic. There is not a committee to judge webcomics, they are chosen in a voting process.

that's the way the cookie crumbles! plenty of other outstanding webcomics also failed to garner a nomination... (and no, i'm not talking about either of mine! )

Hey Cory,

Can understand where you are comin' from but the whole deal here is that your comic probably isn't as well known as Ian's for example. As for new comers, do you know how many new comics there are... a lot! Mine included :)

Also people still consider Applegeeks a copy of MacHall, probably why applegeeks isn't in there...

Also there are zillions of other comics out there and I'd pick either the best known or go for different styles, think they went for the last option here. Just to try to please the crowd.

Big jury or small jury... it wouldn't matter dude. it's still based on personal interrest.

Don't feel bad, I didn't get nominated for best newcomer or best superhero. I was reading through the elections and somebody voted me and "Life and Times of Mr. Bubbles" for best newcomer last year. I wonder who that was...

Uh... there are a lot more than 100 webcomics these days. Most of them didn't get nominated. Most of them you've never ever heard of. Your style is cool, but that isn't an instant nomination.

Case in point, I'm a Voter of the Awards. Explain enough for ya?

Basically if you're known enough, you get a nomination. One nomination, however, does not qualify you to the ballots. It very hard to get nominated if you don't literally throw yourself at the voters. [Not recommend, some of us won't catch you and the floor is quite hard.]

The only newcomer I didn't think should've been there was Sore Thumbs, mainly because of who it comes from - established webcomic creators.

I think newcomer awards should be for newcomer webcomic creators, rather than comics.

---Just give yourself a 'Comic Most Ignored by the Cartoonist's Choice Awards' nomination, and you're gold.

---I've won that one four years running. :D

ya know if you want more publicity for your web comic you should hang around the forum games more often, ive never even seen any of your posts before, but lots of people hang around the forum games and thats where i found all the webcomics i read.

Just a helpful tip!

The real question is, why didn't J-Walkin' sweep the awards every single year it took place?

There are yearly webcomic awards?

I guess I wasn't included...no one sent me a message...oh well.

Where do I go to check out the lop-sided voting system that it most definitely must be?

If you received no messeage, it means they hate you, your comic and your little dog too.

You want to familiarise yourself with the voting process? I guess the rules would tell you that...knowing the award categories would help too.
