Not because of the odd law that
this story is about, but the name of the homeless shelter in Juneau. It almost makes a guy want to be homeless...

I thought the mere presence of CJ made Alaska plenty interesting, but who wouldn't want to live in a place called the Glory Hole?

Well, some people don't like it because the place is full of pricks.

bahahahahahahahaha I had no idea it was called that. That's great. I also didn't know that Bear meat was illegal for non-profit groups to have donated to them....
Bear meat is nasty anyways. :p

But hopefully
bare hunting trips are still okay, and I can go with you because my forum rank just changed to "Bear Bait."

no, bear hunting is still legal, it's just not legal to give the meat to a non-profit organization.
I'm not much on hunting either... and the only fishing I do is for halibut and bearded clam. I don't fish for anything I won't eat.

Odd. I'd read that bear was quite tasty if you prepared it right. The fat, especially.

Bear tastes either really bitter or really fishy depending on what time of year you killed it. IMO, you can't make it right.... there is no such thing in my mind.

My mother once ate some medecine which was made out of a dried bear bladder... she told me it is very strong and that eating more than one bite would kill you.

I read they make bear curry in Japan ... Anyway, you can make most things taste edible. It just takes sauce. Lots of it. Sauce can even make boiled fish taste halfway edible and that's quite the task.

Up in Alaska though you probably get more grizzly bear. Here in Ontario we get Black bear predominantly which doesn't taste that bad at all.
Still, nothin' beats good ol' moose meat.

Wouldn't you get Kodiak bears up north as well? They're nasty; they'll turn into hardcore man-eaters if they get one taste of human flesh. ... Seems somehow proper to eat those bastards.

Some of the people served by the Glory Hole said they miss meat of any kind.

I just noticed that this is an AP story, which means I know who wrote it, and I bet you that he put some of the really funny stuff in there on purpose. Matt is only a few years older than me and he's a smart ass.
