Fiction: To Save Her by Jennifer Diane Reitz; just today finished Red Mars by Kim Stanley Robinson. Once home (I'm currently away seeing some relatives) will likely start reading Robinson's Green Mars.

Non-fiction: Nature (and lots of it), Women, Fire, and Dangerous Things by George Lakoff, China: A New History by John King Fairbank and Merle Goldman. Once home will likely start reading Mendel in the Kitchen: A Scientist's View of Genetically Modified Food by Nina V. Fedoroff and Nancy Marie Brown.

Yeah, I tend to be in the middle of several things at once at any given time. :oops:
Why are you staring at my bottom?

Burning Bright by Tracy Chevalier, that woman who wrote Girl With The Pearl Earring, and it's really, really bad.

I have a soft spot for historical fiction, but seriously, this woman is a hack. When William Blake showed up I felt like throwing the book across the room.

Also, Kafka On The Shore by Haruki Murakami, which I'm really enjoying. It sort of has a Neil Gaiman vibe going on, only more serious and in a way, more wonderful.
I shall keep myself in oysters for the rest of the week, thank you very much.

Just finished reading Antti Tuuri's Taivaanraapijat that was about finnish immigrants in the US, building the first skyscrapers in New York. I bought it to my grandma for christmas, and now I read it myself. I will now demonstrate the narrative of the book;

Something happened. Then something else happened. One of my coworkers said something about something someone said. I went back to my apartment and ate. Something happened. Something else happened.

I shit you not; one phrase, full stop. Another phrase, full stop. Going through mostly the daily routines of the workers, and the occational visit to church or something, and there was little actual dialogue. I can't believe people actually read this shit.
The gospel preacher, the hostile teacher/The face of God with an impostor's features
This is the prophecy - the cult leader/The people's temple, the holy ground, the war compound
Four-pound to rifles, disciples, the holy idles/Supreme truth, the cult leader with the green tooth
The multi-millionaire with a stare that can freeze troops/I program people to kill
The motiviational speaker, my words cause people to feel/It's mind control, let the cult leader guide your soul
Open up your eyes to the lies he told/The general, the chief, I be the political pioneer
The cult leader, you can believe in me, I am here/Bless the children, take you under my wing, shelter
Helter Skelter, this is it, you can't kill me I'll exist forever. Cult Leader!
