I don't want kids, but I don't think I would want a daughter. With boys you only have to worry about one penis (for the most part, unless your child is GBT), whereas with girls you have to worry about every peubescent and post -peubescent penis on the planet.
In all my daycarying and my youth I found boys more prone to violence and pratical jokes, broken bones, furnature and friends. THEN once they hit puberty it's like OMG GIRL.

Having been through the fend off the penis stuff that I can handle, three boys deciding that practicing blindfolded kitchenknife throwing with their brothers as the targets...I'd rather not relive anything like that.

They say that boys are more trouble when they're little. Girls are more trouble when they're older.
"It is the difference between the unknown and the unknowable, between science and fantasy - it is a matter of essence. The four points of the compass be logic, knowledge, wisdom and the unknown. Some do bow in that final direction. Others advance upon it. To bow before the one is to lose sight of the three. I may submit to the unknown, but never to the unknowable. The man who bows in that final direction is either a saint or a fool. I have no use for either."

I think "problems" is entirely relative. Girls or boys become "problems" when they act in a way that you the parent does not prefer.

Boys are incredibly hyper and stupid at a young age, something we try to eradicate.

If you accept boys for what they are (many countries don't start school until a later age because of those reasons) you will have "problems."

Same goes for girls.

Tell him to do what Charles Barkley did when his daughters got close to dating age. He said "I'll shoot the first couple. Word will get around."

Having worked at a summer camp 3 years, I would say that on a violence/cruelty scale girls beat the boys. esp in the 7-9 year old group. Nothing crueler than a 9 year old girl.

But at that point it can get to be calculated cruelty, and I can respect that more then stupidity. (which I sooo consider the kitchen knife incident to be--the boys were 7, 9 and 12).

Really when you get down to it, if a kid is gonna be evil, they are gonna be evil but even as a kid I respected more when my brother set up things to get me in trouble that were calculated and clever–like putting the screen on my bedroom window all screwy and telling my parents he saw me sneeking out in the middle of the night-- then just being a jerk and locking me in a cabinet.

I was completely innocent until I was about 13...

And I'm still mostly innocent apart from all the sex obsession...

I am utterly non-evil, I can't stand cruelty in any form. :P

I am sooo not evil.

I tried to convince my sailor otherwise, but the most evil thin I could recall doing was shaking a soda on a friend-it was outside at a lake party.

Yup, 3, love the hell out of them even when they're driving me nuts (which is usually, at 8, 9, and 10 years of age), and no, I don't want any more (aside from the intense desire I get to have another BABY whenever exposed to one under 2...then I remember that when they're yours, you can't give them back when they get whiny, crooupy, constipated, or need feeding every 2 hours, or when they reach the stage where anything they can reach WILL be experimented with (one of ours stuck a fork in an electrical socket...ended up withy a Garfuynkle hairdo for two days and minor electrical burns, and $2500 in rewiring charges)

I tried to do that once, as a child. My mom saw basically a mini bolt of lightning, but no damage to anyone or anything.

I would hold the prongs of the electrical cord of my lamp and use wht shock I felt as an "it's okay to plug this in"...I'd get in trouble for reading so I had to pull the cord, then there was no light...
