Heh, i seriously doubt i'll see any real combat outside of some scuffles with the occasional ornery arab

ROFLMAO.....*cough* hehe...I had a friend who was with the 1/162nd just come back and oh the pics he showed me. I rather enjoyed the one of the M1A1 with a huge gaping hole in the side due to a close encounter with an Ornery Arab. the one of the Bradley that got flipped due to a booby trap was interesting as well. The one that upset me a bit was the one of the Humvee with the front end sitting 25 feet away from the back half. My friend lost his platton sgt in that one. So while over there remember its not paranoia when you know they really are out to get you.

Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike the military. Gods know *I* don't want to get shot at, so I have nothing but respect for those who choose to serve. But I sometimes have to really call to question the motives of those who give you your orders...

although i am gonna see if i can moun't a .50 onto my bradley.

i don't think that the penis assessment is entirely accurate. it probably is for some who are insecure, but i doubt that mindset applies for all who serve/command. although there are lots of women in combat right now. hell, when i spoke to the recruiter i saw a poster of a squad of infantry, and one of the SAW gunners was female. now, it takes some serious strength to lug a light machine gun around, even if it's that delicate M249, and i just forgot my point...

on the topic of orders, individual initiative is the hallmark of a good soldier. ^_^

of course, there arelots of reasons i'm doing this;
i get $10,000 enlistment bonus, in addition to both state and federal monthly pay, which i can use to buy a truck, get my buisiness going, and build a new computer.

i also get 100% educational assistance, meaning i'll get free colledge/technical schooling.

then there's the pride of serving my people in their time of need, and helping bring liberty to a depreciated nation.

and finally;

don't forget the LEGAL automatic weapon
