Yep, I used violent language here. Probably inflammatory and showing a deficient sense of humor, for some juvenile value of "humor" to boot. Would I actually give a good kicking to either of our fine correspondents? Not unless I had a much better reason than "They're acting like stupid punks".

But it's not funny, not in the very least.

see, with an image like that, there is nothing you can do but laugh. It is horrific, disgusting, and damaging to the finer sensibilities.
The reason we laugh is because humor robs terror of its hold over your mind. No, I'm not laughing AT the pain those people endured or the pain their realitives may still be enduring, I'm laughing because its a whole hell of a lot better than crying. Ask any Jewish comedian why Jews rank as the funniest people in the world. 2000 years of oppression will work wonders on your sense of humor.

Life without humor only leaves depression. That being said, before someone starts thinking I'm a heartless bitch who laughs at the misfortune of others, I enjoy going down to Mexico to help build orphanages and help out in any way I can and truly enjoy volunteer work. I'd much rather volunteer my time (which is worth far more than a donation to me) than a pittance of money and I truly enjoy helping those with no hope.

Having said all that, I've found the ability to laugh at disaster is a mark of maturity, whereas laughing at victims is the opposite. Humor helps the healing process and allows us all to move on. Laugh at the disasters but also be willing to get your own hands dirty to help those with no hope.
