This may be a little stupid, but now I know where the name for Sephiroth comes from! (BTW have you seen that new tech demo for FFVII on the PS3? OMG it is freaking awesome! Too bad they won't say if they're really doing a remake. I hope so. To find it, go to google and type in "playstation 3 final fantasy 7" the first site there should be it, so hit I'm feeling lucky.)

Care to elaborate on the DNA thing squiddy? sounds cool!

decent, but entertaining the first couple of times watching it.

oh, and the soundtrack is keen, with its beeps and boops and such.

R, for no reason I can fathom.
"It is the difference between the unknown and the unknowable, between science and fantasy - it is a matter of essence. The four points of the compass be logic, knowledge, wisdom and the unknown. Some do bow in that final direction. Others advance upon it. To bow before the one is to lose sight of the three. I may submit to the unknown, but never to the unknowable. The man who bows in that final direction is either a saint or a fool. I have no use for either."

I'm pretty sure its for profanity (naughty words)

I dont believe there's much to object to in the subject matter (beyond a few key points)

No violence except for the bit right near the end, and the only thing sexual is the implication that the girl across the hall has the (unrequited) hots for him. Maybe it's an adult film that really is for adults, mirabile dictu :D

[quote="jackalope"]That sounds like someone half-remembered The Zohar (the original medieval writing that most of the Qabalah is based upon). However, there's no "holy spirit" or "christ" in there, as it's a purely jewish notion. YHVH is the divisions of the godhead, the Father, Mother, Son and Daughter.

There's apparently a new translation in the works put out by Stanford University. You can read about it on their website:
http://www.sup.org/zohar/

They're saying a pubication date of 2003, so I'd guess it's already out. There may actually be paperback editions by now...

The bulk of my books are still in storage (it's so SAD!), so I can't just troll through my bookshelf to find you some titles. I remember the last book I read that had a treatment of the Zohar was actually on the history of fundamentalism in the Abrahamic religions. I hadn't actually realized there was such a thing as a fundie jew up til then. I'll try and find the title of that one, because it's worth reading whether or not you're interested in the Cabbala.

Avoid anything that mentions hermeticism or thelema. It'll be full of Crowleyite bullshit.

Sorry to resurrect this old thread from they depths it was assigned - But at the behest of a certain tentacle clad somebody, this is me best veiwed through cracks of fingers:

(Due to techical difficulties, the part of Lulujayne will tonight be played by a quicky-photo-booth photo. Pixellated, technicolour-splendour will be returned as soon as a bung camera is repaired.)
By the way, my eyes are blue, not red like that picture might have you believe :)
I shall keep myself in oysters for the rest of the week, thank you very much.

Wow. You have a very pretty face and beautiful eyes. Am I sure I'm already married?

The poor quality of the photo just emphasizes the beauty of the subject.

Cute fake suicide. Just one piece of advice...
