What can't you find?

Post by Sweet or Sour »

We all know the Internet is full of weird and disturbing stuff, and its also full of a lot of stuff that we actively seek for a more positive reason, and we find many of these things? [Be they a special niche community or a rare item, a special kind of porn or a source of hard-to-find information]

But that was all found...

What do you have trouble finding? or trouble finding quality sources of, despite your best efforts?

What does the Internet seem to simply not have easily available for your consumption, despite how hard you've looked? What has evaded you?

or movie files of old commercials

[by the way if anyone has links to any of those three things, i'd greatly appreciate them]

(Things I still can't find on the internet any more)
1. A complete set of older H-game pic sets that all dissapeared off the net back in 2000(no P2P or MIRC crap needed), such as Gun Blaze, Iku Iku Pakkun, or Kero Kero Boshi
2. A single copy of Amazing Strip any issue despite the web being ripe with the rest of the Venus Comics.
3. The original pics from Kamesenin what ever it was H-site back in 97 or so before it closed.
4. A Good pic of Kozue from Maison Ikkoku, that is a screen shot of her from the anime, preferable from when she is describing how Mr. Yotsuya got out of the well in that episode where they get stuck in the well.
5. Maison Ikkoku H-fanart not of Kyoko for that matter, although I didn't really serch for it.
I could go on but you know...
Still if some one could find that stuff
So just what is Gainax trying to say here?

So put a real location down if you want location-specific answers, dip. Jeebus.

Try starting here: Australian Folk Songs
The English Music Hall

Unfortunately, the largest repositories of digitized 19th century sheet music are all american collections. EFDSS is still trying to get their recordings into digital format so they can be released on CD. The sheet music may never happen at this rate, and the university collections in England are so neglected that many of them are being sold off to american collectors. The canadians have the Virtual Gramophone, which is one cool project, but I haven't found a corresponding electronic sheet music archive yet.

American collections I have bookmarked:
Historic Sheet Music at Duke University
19th Cen. American Sheet music project at UNC
Library of Congress, multiple collections
Parlor Songs, In Search of American Popular Song, 1800-1920
Blackface Minstrelsy 1830-1852

And before someone starts screaming at me about that last one, we staged an 1850s medicine show at our local Dickens Fair 4 years ago. We did not do any of the blackface bits that were commonly used, but we did incorporate some of the music. And we sold Chief Tanto Waseeshu ("Chief Stupid Whitey") Miraculous Elixir.

If you're willing to pick through the databases, the Digital Tradition at the Mudcat Cafe, and this russian folk song server, you can find interesting things. They're more useful if you're looking for words to a specific song.

Y'know, I find it weird that there actually aren't many representations of female monsters (Reference Major Maxillary), either eating humans is considered 'Mens work' or they simply don't have orc women? Like with Warhammer 40,000 Orks grow from spores.
"OH, I'VE SEEN THE INFINITE, IT'S NOTHING SPECIAL."
"Don't be daft! you can't see the infinite, it's... infinite!"
"I HAVE."
"Ok then, what did it look like?"
"IT'S BLUE."
"It's black."
"IT'S BLUE."
"It's black!"
"FROM THE OUTSIDE IT'S BLUE..."

I do believe I can help you out with all of your Ippongi Bang needs...

So what do you need? Comics, original napkin art, her tentacle movie, one of her bras perhaps?

Squiddy got the goods.. at it were.

Full text RPG game books without having to pay for them.

Especially BESM 2nd Edition Revised. I don't want to buy it because A) I'm cheap and B) 3rd edition comes out in like 2 months.

The Ballad of Walter Wart
The print of Josephine Baker called "Sweet Josephine" (the one with the two saxophonists)
The score of Daphne (hah!)
A reasonably priced khilij, Hindu/Moghul mace, Patah, or Bichwa
A region-free or North American DVD of 9 Songs
Any of the books from "And Don't Forget the One Red Rose"
"It is the difference between the unknown and the unknowable, between science and fantasy - it is a matter of essence. The four points of the compass be logic, knowledge, wisdom and the unknown. Some do bow in that final direction. Others advance upon it. To bow before the one is to lose sight of the three. I may submit to the unknown, but never to the unknowable. The man who bows in that final direction is either a saint or a fool. I have no use for either."
