Is Obama the Antichrist? Does anyone else find his universal popularity slightly scary?

Antichrist? No, there would need to a prochrist first.

Popularity slightly scary? Absolutely. Charisma like he's got could be used for great evil, or great good. I guess we just watch and wait to see which.

I think when you consider the great ape that came before him, his popularity is pretty understandable.

I'm still scared. Lightning doesn't strike the same place twice. The next time they're going to have a holocaust-type event, they're not going to wear jackboots and armbands. They're going to wear totally different costumes. It's the charisma that counts.

And I don't like what they did to Heath Ledger. Any one of us could be next.

EDIT:
Seriously, they murdered him to boost Dark Knight's ticket sales. And also to punish him for playing a homosexual in a movie.

Oh good grief! I didn't expect anyone here to have this level of paranoia, or worse, link it to religious mythology. We're enlightened, 21st century guys and gals. We're free of that kind of stupid shit.

Is Barrack Obama going to create some kind of dystopia? What's he likely to do with his popularity? Eliminate the tax breaks for the super rich and redistribute the wealth. Pull troops out of Iraq and put them in Afghanistan. Set up universal health care. Fund stem cell research and green technologies. Sounds like dismantling dystopia to me.

Do not confuse hope and expectation with charisma. People just want to get away from the policies and divisiveness of Bush. When the screwed US eceonomy means Obama can't deliver half of what he promised, his popularity will shrink.
Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose DIY and wondering who the fuck you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked up brats you spawned to replace yourself. Choose your future. Choose life... But why would I want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life. I chose somethin' else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who needs reasons when you've got heroin?

Any douche can rationalise. I started this thread to encourage people to vent their conspiratorial steam.

I believe conspiracy theories are created by a small group of shadowy masterminds who disseminate them to further their own nefarious purposes.
This webcomic, seen here is hosted on the free web host Comic Genesis which pretty much proves its not popular.

Killer Rabbits are using the art of misdirection to make sure we don't discover their devious plan to feast on human flesh during the apocalypse they're going to trigger? The horror!

Of course! The whole country is run by a football team, the members of whom have been dead for over a hundred years! Their members include a bisexual flamenco-dancing vampire and an overweight bomber on roller skates! The true mastermind may or may not be a sentient white house! Your girlfriend is pregnant, except that she doesn't exist, except that she does! I NEED SCISSORS! SIXTY-ONE!

The earth was made for the Giant Squid (come on, the planet is 70% underwater, and growing), in a few years they will extract their revenge on mankind. Especially the Japanese.

Anyway, on the topic of elections and conspiracies, I think the Democrats deliberately threw the '04 election, they knew 2004-2008 would be a clusterfuck to deal with, so they rather let King George dig himself into a deeper hole and then swoop in at the next election.

Obama is not the antichrist because the antichrist is to be completely unexpected; NOBODY is going to suspect him of being the antichrist. as such Obama is not.

Shoulda wrote-in Ron Paul.

If anyone's the antichrist, it's him.

because he's all for personal liberty, returning our monetary system to be backed by things of value and not representing debt, and most telling he would've immediately withdrawn all troops from foreign lands, cut spending, strengthened states rights and abolished the IRS, ATF, NSA, DHS, and CIA.

We really dodged the bullet on that one.

And here I was expecting a discussion on Huxley's book.
Even an ignorant, paranoid, cowardly, ugly, corrupt, unsociable, aristocratic thug can conquer large parts of the world, kill thousands of people and be celebrated as the saviour of the Republic.

50+ Mil votes for...
40+ Mil votes against.

I wouldnt say he's overwhelmingly popular. Perhaps its just the media.

What other people said, compared to the last eight years of ineptitude he CAN'T be worse.

But they're not votes against, they are just votes for the other guy.

Reminds me of the time I heard Alan Moore, when he was just old enough to do so (i.e. 18-20-ish, I think), ran for a political office in his hometown. The adult votes were all divided between the other candidates, but the dirty hippies and slumpies and schmo-downs all voted for him, so he won by a veritable landslide. ``

Well, consider this:

Barak is Hebrew for, well, literally "lightning" but more esoterically, "blessing" (from God).
Hussein is (I think) Farsi for "Blessed One".
Obama is. . . um, I'll have to get back to you on that one.

Now - as for the other guy:
McCain means. . . Son of Cain.
You remember Cain, from the bible? The murderer? The one who was cursed by God? And ALL of his descendants?

If anyone's the antichrist, it's this McCain jackalope. (no, really, I think it was Cheney, and we've been in the "end times" for the past 7 years, the "rapture" was 9/11. . . (okay, interpret that however you like, rapture theology has absolutely NO scriptural backing - it's pure post-canon mythology) and we're almost through it, and satan is about to be cast down into the pit, where he belongs, for the next 1000 years. January 20, 2009.)

You know, considering that the world is supposed to be 6000 years old according to the exact same mythology, I don't really think there's much of a point in casting down Satan for a mere 1000 years ...
