Re: Condom Reviews
I wouldn't mind seeing a male equivalent of the birth control pill that rendered men sterile for as long as they were taking it. I do wonder how the physiology would work, though. I may be mistaken, but the pill works by preventing the release of an egg from the ovaries, right? Since the release of sperm coincides with the male orgasm, unlike with eggs and the female orgasm, I wonder if their release can be affected without impacting the male's sexual experience/effectiveness. And since sperm are produced so frequently, and in such great quantities, I wonder if any mechanism for suppression would have to differ widely from the one employed by the pill. Can the sperm cells just be "blocked" or disabled after being produced? Can they be eliminated without causing permanent sterility? Maybe they could make a drug to disrupt meiosis in the diploid gametes before they divide into sperm cells.

Re: Condom Reviews
The pill blocks the release of an egg, and also changes the lining of the uterus to inhibit implantation of a fertilized egg. it does something else as well, but it's been about 8 years since I talked to the doctor about it...

I shall keep myself in oysters for the rest of the week, thank you very much.
Re: Condom Reviews
It made my last GF take a vow of chastity. At least that is the closest thing i can come up with for a logical reason why anyone would be so hardcore against having sex, taking the pill just seemed to make it worse.MistressMaggie wrote:it does something else as well, but it's been about 8 years since I talked to the doctor about it...

Re: Condom Reviews
yeah, going on a low-dose fixed that problem for me, I wasn't really interested in sex and couldn't get off, so I switched to a different prescription, and now I'm horny and not getting any. go me.

Re: Condom Reviews
As my urologist was on his third attempt to fish-out my right-side "tube" to cauterize it, (and it slipped out of the grasp of his forceps again), I joked: "slippery little devils, eh?" - and he shot me a dirty look, and said; ". . . please, just be quiet." - now, it was MY things that were outside of my body, and being fumbled around, and HE was getting bent out of shape? (and by the way, the vallium they gave me didn't do jack SHIT, because I was nervous as hell, and he was crushing my balls, and I felt it).
Afterwards, it felt like I won the bull-riding championiship of the universe.
Now, 12 years later, I *do* often regret that I didn't have 2 or 3 more kids. (honestly, I haven't been able to "pull the trigger" on adoption, or even foster parenting. . . ) - but other times, I'm glad that I only have the ones I have.
After the surgery, there was supposed to be a couple of tests, as there are still stragglers hanging around for as long as two weeks.
(I did not take the tests, because I kind of wanted to have an "unkown" factor as to whether it worked; and be pleasantly surprised if the operation didn't work - but no kids after 12 years, so it must have worked).
So yeah - even if they did invent some kind of electromechanical device that you could switch-on-and-off, it couldn't ever be like - switch it off, be fertile, then the next day, switch it back on and be sterile. Sadly.
However - vasectomy: by far the most convenient (and effective) (and cost-effective) form of birth control. Absolutely recommended! The procedure and recovery were not pleasant. But they are a dim and distant memory now, and all the completely hassle-free sex I've had since then has been absolutely worth it.
Oh yeah. And I'm allergic to latex.
(which is a genetic mutation, an evolution of the human species to work around the reproduction "problem" of condoms. People who are allergic to latex are going to definitely reproduce at a faster rate than those who are not. Latex condoms are probably one of the very few selection factors left for the human species.)

Couldn't you always just freeze your sperm for later impregnation? But then, I'm not sure how long sperm remains viable after initial collection...

Well, I finally picked a brand and it feels great!
Crown Skin Less Skin Condoms seem to pass the masturbation test well, now to see how they hold up in an actual sexual encounter.
