Welcome to messed-up Greece.

Post by Error of Logic »

The 'partnership' arrangement, whereby gay couples can have an official union, has taken a rather depressing twist in Greece, it seems. -_- Have a look at what a friend of mine just told me that a lot of Grecian gay bloggers are going to be writing about: Blog. There is English text to be had if you scroll down the page, past the Greek.

My Greek friend tells me there is no website petitioning to release the right to 'partnership' to all who want it - they tend to get taken down by what he calls the 'hardcore conservative internet users party', but is there anyone here who might create a petition website outside said party's jurisdiction? I'd do it, but my IT skills are pretty crappy.

Ugh, that's horrible... and that's extreme censorship for sites to be taken down that are merely petitioning for equal rights. o_O

Yeah, Greece has one of the strongest Neo-Nazi movements in Europe, alongside the strongest communist bloc...

I wish I could help, but I'm going to bring this up on another forum, maybe they could contribute.
The gospel preacher, the hostile teacher/The face of God with an impostor's features
This is the prophecy - the cult leader/The people's temple, the holy ground, the war compound
Four-pound to rifles, disciples, the holy idles/Supreme truth, the cult leader with the green tooth
The multi-millionaire with a stare that can freeze troops/I program people to kill
The motiviational speaker, my words cause people to feel/It's mind control, let the cult leader guide your soul
Open up your eyes to the lies he told/The general, the chief, I be the political pioneer
The cult leader, you can believe in me, I am here/Bless the children, take you under my wing, shelter
Helter Skelter, this is it, you can't kill me I'll exist forever. Cult Leader!

I'm afraid I was left a little confused by this too. That page didn't have much info (in English at least). And I don't understand why it would be hard to find a censor-resistant web host either. There much hundreds of choices in the US and elsewhere around the world.

Forcibly taking down websites protesting for more rights is fucked up, but as it stands, I'm not seeing any information explaining why the current suggested legal union is a bad thing for the people that want it. The way I see it, you can't expect the straight politicians to suddenly jump up and say "give gays all the rights they want!" You start small with domestic partnerships or whathaveyou, take what you can get, and slowly work your way up from there. The final goal might be equal rights with straight marriages, but taking small victories along the road towards that goal is fine, too, maybe even preferable if it helps the straights get used to it over time.

Of course, this is all bupkis if you guys are leaving out important information, which I think you are. Otherwise people wouldn't be getting so pissy.
greece is fucked up

basicly if you're born working class
you have no chance of moving up
and you'll die with an ass load of debt you could never have worked off anyways
so theres pressure everywhere in greece for everything
this is just one more thing on the pile

I know a few people from neighbouring countries that visit greece often, so I'm going by what they say, and what I've seen in the news about greece

The 'partnership' arrangement was designed to be just that: a domestic, but officially recognized, way for gay couples to have their relationship formalized and recognized. Except in Greece, the arrangement has been formally accepted, but only for heterosexual couples. Now do you understand the general outrage?
