Name issues

Post by Major Maxillary »

I'm about to become a father this month, and neither I nor the woman whom I have thoroughly klnocked-up can come up with a name.

Chances are it'll be a boy, tough I don't know for sure as I want to be surprised.

names she or I've suggested but shot down:
Godwin
Lyman(considdering for middle name)
Genghis
Alexander
Magnus
Jessica
Zeke
Richard
Edward
David
Rodney
Draco
Rasputin
Cletus
Mayhue
Ibram
Bruce
Eugine
Kalash

and a ton of others I can't recall.

any suggestions?

and to tell the British royalty to eat a bag of dicks.

I'd add more, but I think that's enough suggestions from me. *L*

these three I like. Of course, with the first one, you should consider Lex Godwin* or something like that as a double name

* yes I am fully aware that there should be a genitive suffix added, probably third declension, i.e. Godwinis ...

If it's a girl, I suggest Lulu.

If it's a boy I suggest Lulu.

If that doesn't tickle your fancy, go with Mortimer Crumblepump III or Ethel Aldershot of Brumbley Park... God help my children if I ever have them.
I shall keep myself in oysters for the rest of the week, thank you very much.

Well, that came from the left field...

Since half the names in the english name-book have been allready proposed, I'll just throw in Asa, and tip-toe away.
The gospel preacher, the hostile teacher/The face of God with an impostor's features
This is the prophecy - the cult leader/The people's temple, the holy ground, the war compound
Four-pound to rifles, disciples, the holy idles/Supreme truth, the cult leader with the green tooth
The multi-millionaire with a stare that can freeze troops/I program people to kill
The motiviational speaker, my words cause people to feel/It's mind control, let the cult leader guide your soul
Open up your eyes to the lies he told/The general, the chief, I be the political pioneer
The cult leader, you can believe in me, I am here/Bless the children, take you under my wing, shelter
Helter Skelter, this is it, you can't kill me I'll exist forever. Cult Leader!

Y'know BusterTheClown, I always felt sorry for Eustace in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Even before he gets turned into a dragon as punishment. He was misunderstood XD

I can't believe nobody's mentioned the names from Space Mutiny yet, though I happen to like the name Bolt anyway... not sure I'd actually NAME a kid that, though... maybe middle name.

See, when naming kids you have to walk a fine line avoiding things that can backfire into taunting. Even simple, common names can be traps (just ask my friend smElliot... he still hasn't shaken that one off). Try to avoid names that have good syncopation or rhyme with your last name too. Even a normal name can be twisted to evil if it can be worked into a musical number with ease.

For girls names, I've always liked Alexis. Also Lillian, which can be shortened to Lily, or hyphenated with a second name as Lillian-Ann, or Lillian-Marie.

For boys... well, I don't really like that many boys names. I would adivse you to pick two names who's initials sound really well together, and just call him that. Ronald Johnson = RJ. If you'd rather he always use the initials, make the names horrible... like Rube Jorgen.

In finnish, Mirri means Kitty, and is also a term for an easy woman.

Badass. But you'll probably want to pick something that won't get you laughed at on the playground ...

I like fancy names that are easily shortened. Like Aloysious. If your kid is feeling confident he can go all out, or just retreat into Al. Also Maximillian, maybe Friedrich or Frederick.
