no one has yet come up with a better answer than that, but it's true that the 9-year old wears ballgags as hairbows all throuh the series, as well as the movie, if i recall properly? (though she's all of 11 in t he movie

Actually she's like 11 in the TV series(the age she's depected as in doll form). In the movie she's like 16(and seems to be hitting on an 8year old shota boy).

nope, start of the series when the crew's being introduced to Yurika, "Hoshino Ruri, 9 years old", and the version of the subs in which i saw the movie said that it was starting a year after the incident on mars where they stole the central core, plus estimating a year for the series from the times when they'd say "a few months later" etc, places her as roughly 11 during the movie. Might be different in the manga, though.
