Whoever made that has some serious skill... and way too much free time.

Das gab ein grosses Feuerwerk

Hey now, don't knock good ol' MS Paint. Actually, their updated version Paint.NET kicks the ass of Photoshop so incredibly thoroughly it's insane. It takes up one quater of the drive space that Photoshop does, provides all the same features (and a couple more) but with a much more intuitive, simple and friendlier user interface, and best of all it's FREE (downloadable from their website blah blah blah.)

I have to use Photoshop all the time for work, and I've always found it clunky and illogical. The best thing that ever happened to Windows Vista was not being able to include Paint.NET, because it means more joy for you and me :)
I shall keep myself in oysters for the rest of the week, thank you very much.

Wait... I'm confused. Maybe I'm reading wrong; the BEST thing about Windows Vista is that it CANNOT include Paint.NET, which you like so much?

That's how I read it. *sheepish grin*

Speaking of Windows Vista; I'm debating getting a new computer with that, is it any better than XP?

Vista seems to make bigger demands on your hardware. We have a couple of test boxes at work and all but the newest systems loaded with RAM and beau coup processor seem burdened down with Vista. XP may be seriously flawed and patched but right now it seems to run significantly faster on a typically configured system. I'm primarily a Mac OS user but for the few tasks I use Windows, Vista is a great improvement in features and stability.

There is an old phrase originally attributed to Dr. Beavis and Lord Butthead, and put simply is says...

Beavis, you can't polish a turd.

And that's exactly what Windows Vista is all about, polishing a turd. The code at the core of the OS is still the same bullshit 8 bit kernal that has been used on every MS OS since DOS, with a 32 bit and 64 bit API layer to make the thing look like its somewhat competent.

Ahh, but no one really cares anymore. Windows is easy, so easy in fact that a 2 year old can use it, and that's the way people like things.

It doesn't allow for separate editing of the alpha layer, or converting a grayscale bitmap into alpha. Give me GIMP.

That actually sounded pretty good, until I found out it requires Service Pack 2 on XP. Yuck. Oh well, I'm happy with Paint Shop Pro 7 and 9.

Probably because that's how I wrote it :)

Because they didn't include it with windows it ended up moving to the glorious world of free download.
