On surgery; it's not enough of a problem to worry about surgery - if I had never started the job I'm in now I'd have never known about being longsighted. Besides, funnily enough I'm looking forward to wearing them :-?

On anti-glare and scratch resistant coating; done and done. That's why the lenses are costing me 80 pounds.

On fire-lighting; Coooooooooooooooooooooolllllllll :D

On appearance; photo to follow in two weeks. New AV probably sooner.

Well I am MENT to wear glasses but after 3 years of doing so i decided to tell em to screw theirselves since I am one of those people that think dentists and such while helping a little cause little imperfections that they make worse so you have to rely on them .

Example being is the fact that all dentists will scratch away at a damaged tooth and then say something like you need a filling which you get and then the tooth gets worse.
If it moves fuck it, If it doesnt fuck it till it does.

Another reason to put off surgery if you were thinking about it. My wife got her eyes done and lost a good bit of of close-up vision. If you're doing fine work with surface mounted components it could be a problem.

The man who bows in that final direction is either a saint or a fool. I have no use for either."

Gah, I'm still wearing my ugly backup glasses. My expensive titanium frames snapped a while back and I haven't been able to afford to get them fixed. I only have a $175 optical allowance, so I'd rather use it on a new pair of glasses (need 'em bad, the current pair has big scratches right across the center of my vision) instead of fixing these beater ones. These incredibly heavy backup glasses are reminding me why I went with polycarbonate lenses last time.

I just have to remember to buy a pair of frames that I can wear safety glasses over. Safety glasses make bitchin' sunglasses for under $20, instead of the $200 Bolle and other obscenely expensive brand makers want.

I noticed that the QA guy at work has identical glasses to the ones I'm getting (picking them up this friday :D) - they probably cost a lot more because they got DKNY engraved on one of the arms :o

I tell Ogrek this and he says that it probably costs extra to put the letters on.

"Then why the hell are my frames only 40 pounds? They have freaking COLLEGE written on them!!! That's more letters than DKNY!"

Here's the glasses

And yes, to make life interesting, I am female...

Oh cool, I'm not a cheap customer anymore, even if I didn't buy the DKNY ones :D

yay for the nifty glasses! they do indeed look very good ^_^

i had far, far too much fun when i got my glasses, i drove the poor person behind the counter -nuts-... they had a sign saying all teh frames had been quality checked and etc, so each prospective frame, i askedoot see the Q&A documentation, except the last one, which iicked, but i went "zommagod squee! it has the 'read or die' logo on it!" and so have had my moderately enormous thick wodges of metal wrapped around my head ever since ~_^ was defiantely worth the price, since they've survived multiple times where brain shut down completely and glasses were only things handy to irritatedly hurl across the room... (yes, i do stupid stupid things when i start panicking. RantinAn can -more- than verify that, lol)

Didn't David Willis do something about this? Oh yeah, he did, and more than once:

But what do I know? I'm an ugly SOB with or without my glasses on (not that ever take them off except for sleeping...).

And I said I'd put them on my internet AV at some point; a silly little doodle on a post-it note, done at work.

My work uniform (a grey t-shirt and sweater with blue and purple logos on the chest and sleeves, admittedly not shown here) makes me look like Tintin :(

Do you at least get to have wild adventures with a little dog as a sidekick?

the glasses look cute on the avatar too, though i thought Drow were more neurotic about eugenics than your average inbred neo-nazi, wouldn't wearing glasses result in exile? ~_^

I'm not planning to inform my Matron Mother that I now wear glasses. She wasn't interested in the thyroid tumour six years ago so why should I?

Besides I thought he'd look cute in my glasses

Yes they are, big style. Sadly extermination is more their style, no Wheelchair-Friendly Legislation down there. Good thing I left ;)
