Oh yeah, he's pretty much reviled in Star Wars literary fandom for that. My mom refuses to read Vector Prime even tyhough she has just about every otehr Star Wars novel.

When you buy a Star Wars book, you have to deal with the BS extra characters that a writer tosses in trying to make themselves immortal (yes, I recognize a need for fresh supporting characters, but when you create a character that supposedly claims to have set into motions things for upcoming movies (Prince Xizor) or other established canon, it's down right pretentious and stupid). Fine, we deal with that but, when you go and freakin' kill an established character...

Anyway... These franchises have owners. Editors. Creative direction. A serial or shared world author might write something like that, but it's got to get past TPTB before it hits the street.

So... I guess there're a lot of extra people y'all can hate for the end of the "walking carpet" ;-)
