Episode 42

Postby Emily Teal Young on Sun Nov 25, 2001 2:39 am

You've done it yet again, Geej. Bra-vo! The plot chickens-- er, thickens! I can't wait to find out what happens next! What will Helix do once confronted by Sephy?
Hmm... I predict that I will do a fanfic of LA sometime in the future when enough plot has been revealed... And I promise I'll make it something other than one of those bizarre love pairings us fanfic authors are so fond of! (Which reminds me, off to work on my Harry Potter Snape/Hermione fic! Bwahahahaaaa!)
~Em http://elves.keenspace.com

Thanks Em. BTW, you might be pleased to know that the chapter will show more of Sarren. Actually, the focus will be on their side of the fence, as it were.
Fanfic for LA? Whoa. And you bombard Kern's Oekaki with cool art too! How can you do all of it? Where do you get the time? I envy you.
And if you don't know yet, I like Snape and Hermione too. They are my favorite characters in Harry Potter. I can't wait to watch the movie though. It won't be shown here until Thursday. Arggh! The suspense is killing me.

Great page, Geej. Seph is my favorite character, and he speaks! (well, kind of) And Harry Potter was amazing. Very good. But Snape & Hermione? 0_o That's kinda odd... But I must admit, the actors portraying Snape, Hermione & Hagrid were perfect for the part.

Glad you liked it Chris.
I like Hermione and Snape from what I read in the books. I don't know if that is translated well into the movie. But I like Alan Rickman the actor anyway.
------------------

Hallo Yoyoba!
First, you haven't seen or read harry potter? I recommend you do.
Second, thanks for the nice words. And the pet. Arf arf.
Looking at the current page now, I'm just thinking how long it will be for me to finish the whole thing. This might go on for years especially if I stick to a weekly sched. That'll change soon I hope. I want to tell the story faster.

------------------

Chapter 42, and the whole comic for that matter: "ees b33fy", to horribly misquote someone. And going on twice-a-week schedule?
"It's only a comic strip but I like it."
All the critics I've read thus far have stamped Harry Potter as "medicore". Mind you, most of them also axed Rush Hour 2 while I thought it was okay...

Hey Watchman. Thanks for the l33t words. Originally, this comic comes out twice a week but I had to scale back because I'm supposedly preparing for an exam that can change my life forever. After the exam, I'll be going back to a twice/week sched but not immediately of course. I'm going to try my hand with a colored chapter first and see how fast I can do pages with that. After guaging the effort needed, then I can move on back to a 2x/week sched.
As for Harry Potter being mediocre, are you talking about the film or the books? I haven't seen the film personally (it won't be shown till Thursday) so I cannot vouche for it much. But I can vouche for the books however. Very good read. But of course, as the say, different strokes for different folks. The HP books may or may not be to your liking.

------------------

Wow, what a great idea! Letting us tell you what we think.
I'll be rather interested to see Sephriel confront Helix on this. I've been QUITE interested to know why Helix has a price on his head>=D I just love the hinting.
I only just noticed now, but Lily's new haircut makes her look a LOT like a character in my Kamishibai story, LoveQuest. Suddenly I REALLY like Lily^_^
Snape is wonderful, but he gets too few lines in the movie. He's so interesting, I love hating his guts. He's such a deliciously wretched person. My favorite character, though, is Dumbledore. He translated well into the movie. The test, for me, was him trying the earwax flavored jellybean^_^ He passed. I love him in the books because there's such an air of mystery about him, plus he's always such a funny old fellow. I don't usually like the old wise fellows much, but Dumbledore is so unique.

Hi Rebochan,
Well, letting you tell me what you guys think was the idea behind having a forum. So post all you want.
And as for Sephriel confronting Helix, you'll just have to wait to see what will happen. And trust me, Sphriel is the least of Helix's worry in the group.
Kamishibai? Very interesting. I have to look more into that art/story-telling form. I've dropped by OtakuWorld to take a peek and that reminded me that I wanted to do "mascots" for Lovarian Adventures.
Gahh! I can't wait for the movie! 2 more nights worth of sleep to go.
Thanks for posting.

I was referring to the movie. I've yet to run into a single story that wasn't better as a book than a film...
...even Apocalypse Now: Redux. It just doesn't get up to Conrad's book...

Ah. It's usually like that anyway. Books are usually (if not always) better than movies.
------------------

Hi!
*Waves*
I'm new! You don't know me. But I might have e-mailed Geejay before....
Anyway; Love the comic, love the new page, desperately want to know what happens next....
But, I can't help but notice that you're talking about Harry Potter! What great books! Specifically, You're talking about Snape.
Just so you get an idea of how weird I am, I think you should *all* know; I THINK SNAPE IS DEAD SEXY!
Alan Rickman too! (He's older than my parents. That's kind of sad.)
Anyway......
I think I'll like it here....

Hi Maureen and welcome!
Thanks for the comments and yes, wanting readers to want to read what's next is part of my goal when doing a page.
Well stick around. We can talk more about Harry Potter if you wish. I have left my HP books back in the PHilippines though so I can't reread them. Darn. Might just buy a new set.

------------------

For the Harry Potter movie, I think they miscast Hermione. She's meant to be a plain bookworm in the story, who becomes unrecogniseably beautiful at the ball (goblet of fire) but they've cast quite a good looking girl for the part in the first one
