Hey folks! You'll notice that the comic for Sunday, August 5th, appears to be missing some space at the right. That's because it is. I somehow truncated it without noticing. I'll fix that tonight.
Additionally, it has come to my attention that not everyone reading the comic has realized I've been updating in multiple strips. Feel free to browse through the recent comics to see if you've missed anything!
And finally, yes, I will be back to the regular Vicious Lies format from this point on. I'm now only behind by ::does quick calculation:: a lot, but it's a lot less, and I have several ideas scripted and a little free time this weekend. Not much, but some.
Thanks for staying tuned!
--Strange/Dave

------------------

Suggestion:
Do not catch up. Just start from today and continue forward, and don't worry about the lack of comics from the past few weeks. Because when you are just now posting a comic from August 5th, and someone goes to the page, they think that that was the last time you put new stuff on there, and might be reluctant to come back. If they see a comic dated Aug. 18, though...they won't really notice what you missed last week as much...they will say "at least there's something new here today...he must be updating regularly again....I'll come back tomorrow." (or something like that)
Anyway, I'll still be reading...
~dave
------------------

<strike>Todd</strike> ~dave:
I thought about that suggestion (before you ever made it, too -- I'm thinking of getting my own psychic hotline), but decided that (a) as Frodo said, I am doing this mainly for myself... new readers are great, but it's the dedicated I want to reward; (b) I need to do this to prove to myself I can. I have a bad track record of starting things and not finishing them. I've promised myself I won't let that happen on this comic or on my novel.
Don't be surprised if the comic is completely caught up tomorrow.
--Strange/Dave
------------------

You know why moths are attracted to light, don't ya? It's to read their moth porn.
Anywaaaaaaaay.....
Yeah, we have spiders ALL over our apartment, as well. I think it's because we like to open up the windows, and we don't have any screens. They hide in every corner, and are absolutely huge. I swear, they are plotting to wrap me up and suck my blood. I hate killing them, I hate even thinking about them being around. I'm really not afraid of bugs or snakes, etc. but spiders I can't even think about without shuddering. I don't know why.....
------------------

Gah. There's only supposed to be one day missing -- August 11. I'm planning on updating that ASAP, but as you'll see tomorrow, I've been pretty busy with something special.
I don't know where the August 17th comic wandered off to. I'll do some snooping and get that sucker up there as soon as I find it.
Thanks for the props on the quarter pounder! The spider saga will continue.
At the old apartment, I dealt with moths. We lived in the upstairs of an apartment building with hallways open to the outdoors -- in other words, any bug that wanted to come in didn't have any pesky doors to deal with (except, of course, the residential doors). The same was true of wildlife; I repeatedly shooed away cats that were driving Jackson to distraction, and at various times I found frogs and even a 1.5-inch-long turtle. (Not upstairs, but that's getting nitpicky.)
We had "emergency" lights that were always on when it was dark. The cover broke off the one in front of our apartment, and EVERY MOTH IN THE COUNTY was drawn to it, as it was brighter than the surrounding lights. Every time I took Jackson out in the middle of the night, I was attacked by dozens of very confused, slightly singed moths. There was a three-week stretch during which not a day went by without me throwing at least thirty or forty random moth corpses into the trash, having picked them up from various spots around the livingroom and kitchen. One day I almost tallied seventy-five. When we moved, we found dozens lodged behind furniture. Ugh.
In the new place, it seems to be spiders. Every single day so far, I've killed a spider. I've only killed more than one on one particular day -- I think it was the first day we were there. I think we've become their gods, and they're giving me a daily virgin sacrifice. Although I can't prove these are virgin spiders; that's purely conjecture.
Anyway, in regards to the comic, I'm really, REALLY looking forward to the next five days.
--Strange/Dave
