I dunno... the song itself sounds ska-esque to me... not that I know all that much about ska...

As for the lyrics, I can't make too much sense of the lyrics.

no...but they took many influences from jamaican ska and reggae. This much is plain by their music. While they officially did not play ska music, its obvious that The Clash was very deep in ska roots.

Absolutely. Police and Thieves is a very ska-ish song. Just because they weren't a ska band doesn't mean they couldn't play ska songs, just as the fact that King Prawn not being a punk band doesn't stop them playing some amazing punk tracks.

But Rudie Can't Fail isn't about rudeboys. It just isn't.
