how do go about going?

For me, Anthrocon was simple. I saved up some money, made sure my car was in good working order and drove the 6+ hours from my home in Massachusetts to Philadelphia, PA... making sure I had pre-registered for a room at the hotel as well as the con earlier in the year.
Your Mileage May Vary. Just keep a lookout for any cons that may appear within travelling distance from you. It could be a furry con or a science-fiction con. Some SF cons have a furry presence (Philcon, for example). I know Eurofurance is either coming up, or has just passed (I can't remember the dates or location for that con -- not living in Europe and all).
I know you're in Germany, TDS, so I can't help you there. I'm only aware of cons in the US and parts of Canada.
A site that has a list of the major furry cons in the US is: http://captainpackrat.dynip.com/captpac ... ons.htm. That should give you a start. Some convention web sites may have links to other convention webs, so look around.
I have been considering heading out to Further Confusion in January, but that plan is nebulous at best.
Anyway, I've prattled on too long. This tiggy's going to bed.
Peace;

(...who reminds you to watch the Funday Pawpet Show Sunday evenings starting at 19:00 Eastern US time (I believe it's 0:00 GMT). The most bizarre four hours you'll spend in front of your monitor! The previous show is available as a Real Media file for your downloading convenience.)

Heyas Zillford!
It was a blast to meetcha at AC! (And to meet your dad at the last moment. He seems worlds cooler than my dad.) I hope the trip worked out well for you.
I'll send you a scan of the sketch you did in my book (I forgot to do that before now... and I'm at work presently).
Oh, yeah... The comic was kickin! Can't wait for #2. Catch ya later!
------------------

I only saw the tail (no pun intended) end of the pawpet show at AC, but it was very funny and very cool. Ezra is great! the glasses are the perfect touch for his character.
fun, hilarity.... and probably random drug screening

I never new they did this for more than AnthroCon... I'll have to check their site out.

:EDIT:
TDS, you shouldn't worry about not knowing anyone. I didn't know anyone except Punk, and I didn't see him until awhile into the con... most furrys are quite friendly and are happy to show you around. Lack of knowing people should NOT be the only problem getting to a con... unlike me who's drive to AC totalled up to be about 20 hours both ways. :P

Hey hey!
As always, the last one back here, huh?
Well, glad you're back and hoping you had a nice time (well, all that was already said, so...)

And as far as con goes...
Some peeps are trying to make one in Montreal and I'll be sure to attend ('m'living city. ^_^ ) that one! I'd go to feral, but... stupid work, stupid school and such keeps me from going. -_-
And can't wait for strip #2 now. ^_^

Yupyup, read the homepage for Eurofurance or a similar con in germany that, I think, must have just taken place already (but not sure either).
I just happen to have no contact to any eurpean furs, and know just a handful even existing (altough I doubt that they would know me), what always makes me back of.
I hate being somewhere not knowing at least one person (that's where my introvert personality strikes).
I'm hoping to manage to attend the comic-con next year or so, I read that many keenspace/spot people where there, but this years is just over and I haven't read about a next one yet, so we'll see.
But thank you anyway, Mr. PunkTiger, for pointing out some essentials.
P.S.: Funday Pawpet, you say? should take a look I think, after all I got to know some of the cast already at Nip and Tuck
---------------------

Yup! That whole "Nip 'n' Tuck" adventure gives you a good insight as to how the cast of the Funday Pawpwt Show act.
There's one exchange on the FPS a few weeks ago between Java (a WEIRD frog) and Ezra (a cool doggie with glasses) that made me just howl in laughter over the absurdity of it all. -- Java comes in, a bandage tied around his head, and meets Ezra on stage.
Ezra: Java? What have you gotten into?
Java: PAIN! Lots of it!
E: Are... are you in pain or into pain?
J: (pause) What's the difference?
To which we find out that Java had a scooter accident and had sprained his face. Then we find that he's been taking OPIUM for the pain.
The show sometimes has a tendency to degenerate into just really really strange streams of consciousness when they run out of ideas. Remember, this is a 4-hour LIVE show, and next episode is number 88. They have been doing this for a while.
Peace;
