Well, actually I'm pretty much non-ignorant, but that doesn't include to know all foreign celebration days.
That's why I've been wondering what war (at least I suppose it's a war) you're remembering to.
The one with england, the north vs south one, (wasn't there also one with mexico?), one of the world wars, korea, vietnam, something else?
I'd guess the last ones as pretty unlikely, that happend to soon in the past.
So could you inform me,please?
I mean, before I wonder the rest of my life, I better ask stupidly which one it was.
'kay?

A holiday need not be centuries old to be observed. Canada's Remembrance Day, in observance of soldiers lost in the World Wars(and falling on Nov 11th, anniversary of armistice for WWI I think), is a bona fide holiday.
------------------

You're right, Mr Acheron, I got myself here a holiday that's not even 12 years old, but I happen to remember that the Memorial Day had something to do with something that was more in the past then Korea or Vietnam.
I wouldn't bet on it, I just have this "I-think-I-know-something-about-it"-feeling.
But erhm, what is then now the Memorial Day remembered to?
I'd really like to know now.

[This message has been edited by TwoDifferentSox (edited 05-31-2001).]

Memorial Day is a day for remembering. Although it is associated for remembering those who have fallen in war (any war, nothing specific), it is also for remembering loved ones who have passed on.
Sort of like a national day of grieving.
At least, that's what Memorial Day means to me.
------------------
Peace;

Aha! A national day of grieving.
Actually, I have to admit, that is an interesting concept.
So no special thing remembered to?
Good to know.
Thanx a lot for clearing me up on that PunkTiger.
