Sandman Owns.

Post by Allan_ecker »

I just thought I'd plug the Sandman comic by Neil Gaiman.

Yeah, if any of you know anyone who has read this comic, you are aware that we're all complete fanatics. That's because it's just that good.

A significant portion of Sandman is just sheer awesomeness, uber-important stuff like the whole world turning inside out because someone is having a dream that lets her *see* the walls between dreams and stuff like that, but then Odin and the rest of the Asgard crew show up and Thor says: "So I tell her 'I'm Thor', and she says 'YOU'RE thor? I'm tho thor I can hardly pith!"

Whoa.

Other than the spat between Dream and Desire, I didn't think too highly of the protracted storyline. I didn't really like being introduced to characters just to have their actions and decisions willed away by the big and little Ds. I felt the Mr. Gaiman was at his best when he was writing mythos, like the adulthood story in the wastes where once there was a city (as you can tell by now, I don't remember titles for crap) and the more personal tales, like when Death lived for one day.

o_O
It needs plugging?!

The spat between Desire and Dream dates back to the early universe, to a tasteless practical joke Desire played on Dream using Dream's girlfriend, who was from Oa.

Just because I thought it was relevant: here. Warning: the above link may lead to a whole new addiction.
