Ohhh....

(picks up a large foam baseball bat and starts whapping Alfador over the head repeatedly) BAD PUN. BAD, BAD PUN!!!!!!!!!!!

Though I'm sorely tempted to write up a paper on the potentials for such a non-leathal weapon. After all, it's kinda hard to fight back when you're knees want to buckle and you're eyes refuse to un-cross.

Yeah, but then you run into that problem of people getting addicted to it, like in the Ringworld novels.

"Please, officer! Shoot me again!" :D

Damn it! You beat me to the Ringworld reference!

I liked Speaker to Animals' reaction:

"Oh, my that was... Never do that again."

Its a book or books (I'm not sure which). Hmm... I wonder how that would change "On a Pale Horse"?

Ringworld, Ringworld Engineers, and Ringworld Throne constitute a trillogy by Larry Nivven, one of the few writers out there who manages to write science fiction which is both clever and good. Ringworld is a rousing space opera with a rich, well-developed universe and a fun, fast-paced plot. But it also has wonderfully endearing characters, and that's why it's not only a good book, but a great work of fiction.

As for Speaker to Animals, imagine a Kilrathi version of Worf, only wittier.

(The Kilrathi of Wing Commander are, by the way, a blatant ripoff of Nivven's Kzin.)

Recruiting a harem, Allen?

I'm rather curious as to the function of the "permanent day-glo orange" setting. One thing I've learned from comic evil scientists creations is their unreliability for changing situations, especially when the action reaches its crux. I think Chairface Chippendale had it said best, "I haven't seen a decent appliance since Admiral refrigerators!"

A-heh.

The quote actually came from one of my boyfriends during the Mao game last night. This is particularly funny because it uses something like four of the rules we made up.

About Wing Commander, if anyone's played (and liked) WC: Privateer, there's a game somewhere out there called Terminus which is just damn cool. Like WC: Privateer, you get to customize your own ship and decide what jobs to take and how to take them. However, UNLIKE WC:P, there are Newtonian physics (not orbital, just inertial, sadly), all cargo, weapons and upgrades have both a weight, volume, and breif description of the physics involved. Play is pretty engaging, although a bit slow at times since you have to accelerate and decelerate in REAL TIME, and thanks to a thing called a "vortex gate" you can travel the solar system without spending days holding the thruster button down. I got my copy for 4$, because apparantly nobody's interested in a realistic space combat RPG. One last drawback: it's virtually impossible to make money just shipping cargo unless you actually LOOK AT THE PRICES FOR BOTH LOCATIONS first.
