Friendly Introductions Post (Hey, it works on BmB)
Actually, BJ, that quote of Khan comes from Moby Dick, the book we get to see on the shelf of the Botany Bay that Checkov spies early on in the movie. "Towards thee I roll, thou all-destroying but unconquering whale; to the last I grapple with thee; from hells heart I stab at thee; for hates sake I spit my last breath at thee. Sink all coffins and all hearses to one common pool! and since neither can be mine, let me then tow to pieces, while still chasing thee, though tied to thee, thou damned whale! Thus, I give up the spear!"
Anyways, Hi Blackjack!
Anyways, Hi Blackjack!

Gah! You're right...what a literary faux pas! Being confused by Shakespeare and Melville...*shudder*
Anyway, Khan's a ham...
Khan:Kirk! You're still alive, old friend!
Kirk: Still, "old friend!" You've managed to kill everyone else but like a poor marksman, you keep missing the target.
Khan: Perhaps I no longer need to try, Admiral.
[beams the Genesis device away]
Kirk: Khan... Khan, you've got Genesis, but you don't have me. You were going to kill me, Khan. You're gonna have to come down here. You're gonna have to come down here.
Khan: I've done far worse than kill you, Admiral. I've hurt you. And I wish to go on hurting you. I shall leave you as you left me, as you left her: marooned for all eternity in the center of a dead planet, buried alive. Buried alive.
Kirk: KHAAANNNN! KHAAANNNN!
*wipes tear of mirth from eye*
Star Trek may be damn entertaining, but it certainly does have the most melodramatic dialogue...

Would you believe I paid forty dollars to see that movie in the theatre two months ago? It was the old film that was found in a studio basement that was picked up by the theatre near me. It was grainy, it was scratched, it was used and abused and I loved every minute of it! It was the best Star Trek movie to date.
Oh, Khan maybe a ham but at least he doesn't put emphasis on every other word and dramatic pauses into the middle of every other sentence!
"Please... please, you've... got to give us... time. The Bridge... is smashed, the computer's... inoperative."
Ricardo Montalban is far less jarring than William Shatner in his delivery.

Yes, this works just fine as a newbie thread. Come on in and tell us a little about yourself, Afflicted. It's the best defense you have here considering the rampant naughty imaginings of the various forumites here (yours truly included).

Welcome Vik-Thor!
Although, on second thought, there is that joke about "why do dogs lick themselves?", but I didn't think anthropomorphized dogs could bend that much....
I think that Vik-Thor was looking for a co-participant, not an audience.Fallwind wrote:ah crap, you need a reason now?
what next, a form?

I give up. I tried to fix a post that went disasterously wrong and nothing comes of it for three times. The characters don't even align with what I posted in number or spacing. Maybe if I post again, it will be seen otherwise I am just cursed in this forum. Fifth times the charm:
What... wonderful mental images you've given me, Alfador. 'scuse me while I go slam my head in a car door to squeeze them out.
Anyway, thought I'd change a couple things to reflect current situations.
Weight: 157lbs (I now have a bathroom scale. Woo!)
S.O.: Uncertain (I now have no clue.)
Further bulletins as events warrant. We now return you to your regularly scheduled program.
