Hm. I don't know if I actually have the right to do this...but I'll go ahead anyway.
Last night, just before I fell asleep, my imagination went nuts with this. (My imagination tends to be most active when I'm tired and about to sleep -- any wonder why kids are scared of monsters in their closet/under their bed/etc when they're trying to sleep?) I thought I'd share it, because it's a neat plot twist. (Though, personally, I'm hoping Gloria is going somewhere else with the story, 'cause this is pretty twisted. )
I took off from 02/14's strip (the current one)... Keer and Twap continue arguing. An Ailourophasia-like being shows up...only he's a bear. Keer and Twap are still arguing, and the phasie-bear notices that it's upsetting Xe.
He turns to Twap and says, "Twapalena, if Xheotris, someone you love, makes the decision himself, will you accept it?" She agrees. He turns to Keer and says, "Ciaran, if Xheotris, your best friend, makes the decision himself, will you accept it?" He also agrees. The bear then kinda puts his paws around Twap's and Keer's shoulders, and then addresses Xe. "Well, Xheotris?"
Xe tries to think, to decide. However, somehow, the door that he locked his old life behind breaks open, and all of what he tried to forget comes into his mind.
Now, what do you think is gonna happen, in a world where Xe's imagination can shape the landscape at will?
(Don't ask me what will happen. I don't think I could express it in words. Plus, I didn't actually think about it too much. I was about to go to sleep, remember. That, and I don't know any specifics about Xe's earlier life anyway.)
Um. Yeah. It was such a crazy idea I had to share. Please don't kill me.

She isn't ordering him around! I mean, she was at the beginning but then she left the decision to him and now she's trying to convince Keer that he has to let Xe decide!
And who says she's trying to win anything? I don't think that she thinks this is some kind of argument that she has to win. I think she is thinking she has to get them both to safety. Bob says the place is dangerous and because of Keer's stubborness and Xe's indecisiveness Twapa is going crazy!
[This message has been edited by Simplicity (edited 02-15-2002).]
Yeah, but no matter the urgency of the situation it's slipped back into the same old childish competition between Twap and Keer. Twap may be there for a purpose, but believe me, she isn't helping the situation. Considering how bent on not leaving Keer is at the moment. He's fed up. He's had enough of being walked over by Twap, and fed up of all the times that Xe chose HER over him. Every single time that Xe didn't notice something that was going on with Keer because he was too wrapped up in something with Twap. Every single time that Keer drove him to the hospital or to Furrsdale to see Twap, and yet no appreciation for what he feels. Keer's fed up, and he's not going to take it anymore, and Twap is sick and tired of Keer playing these games, simply because she has a "dominant personality complex".
Yes. My two bits.

Your grammar rawks.
But that is beside the point! ; )
Well maybe Keer shouldn't be fed up with Twap, maybe he should be steering his frustration toward Xe! After all Xe is the one who isn't giving him attention! Just because Xe shows Twapa a lot of attention and doesn't appreciate Keer for all he has done for him, doesn't mean that Keer is right in being fed up with Twap.
But what is even more annoying is Xe has already made his decision. I mean, he's done with his slurpee and doesn't see the need to stay. Keer's being selfish here because all he cares about is "finally he has freetime with Xe without Twapa to "mess it up!"
But Xe is too... innocent. He's not doing it on purpose. He's trying. See... Keer IS being selfish, but only because he feels severely cheated out of Xe. HE was the one that rescued Xe in the first place, HE was the one that has been the diligent best friend who's always there. HE's the one that's always loved Xe and then in walks Twapa and automatically she has total dibs on Xe. Why? For the simple, stupid reason that she's a girl. For the dumb reason that they're "together" now and everything that Keer ever tried to do now means nothing in comparison to "true love".
Is Keer RIGHT to feel this way? Yes and no. I mean... first off, Xe and Twap ARE in love. They need to be free to pursue their life. Keer is holding on to so much that could never be. I mean... the reason he snaps here is because he could FEEL it in his grasp. This isn't just some time alone with Xe. It's everything HE'S ever wanted, all the opportunity, and all the possibility that could ever exist, with Xe by his side. Now Twap has shown up, and Xe wants to go back. Its his last chance to latch onto this opportunity and the best chance to do something he's wanted to for a long time: Plead with Xe and tell him he needs to choose. He has to do something, or else (in his mind) Xe is just going to keep fading away with Twap until Keer is left standing alone, holding the burned out torch of what used to be.

*sniffs*
Awwwwwwwwh! That last image you left me with Keer? *sniff sniff* That was..poetry.
But what Keer has to realize is despite all of his efforts, Xe is still an individual who makes his own decisions regardless of how indecisive he is! And if he is doing this because Twap is a girl than fine let him. Sure he has every right to be frustrated but not with Twap! And I mean if he wasn't so concerned with his ideal than maybe he would see that Twap was there to save them *both* from impending doom instead of just Xe!
Yes, but Twap can be darned cocky, possessive and confrontational. There is a deeper, inherant problem between Twap and Keer that fuels them. It's based on Xe and there general personality differences, but I think it extends deeper than that. I'm just saying that Twap isn't being altruistic either. They are both getting distracted by their mutual animosity and it's going to cause trouble. Especially here. Why do you think that Keer didn't want to imagine something even with Xe's encouraging? What is it that HE would manifest that he wouldn't want Xe to know?

Yeah and if only Keer would've listened to reason before the argument ever happened. I mean *Bob* was saying that the place they were in was bad to be in and Bob is a neutral party who knows a little more than they do about the place they're in.
Twapa is trying to get them both to come back. Sure she gets sucks into the argument with Keer but she is only trying to get him to realize that his stubborness is causing Xe to be indecisive which is only delaying them from what they really should be doing which is getting out of there.

I'm in with Ironpaw man. I wanna kick those morons that say I'm like Keer. Keer's a LOT calmer than me. I'd have like run Twap over with a truck by now or something. *cackle* No seriously, if I saw her doing that to two best friends I'd like run up to her and stab her... in the ass!

Ok ranting aside, I can see both sides. Twap's a girl in love, Xe's a... a... a weasel in love. Keer one of those weirdos that prefers true friendship to lustful partnership, like me. There are situations that went on earlier in the comic that I have been in mirrors of with my best friend. (Please note I have NOT killed any of his g/f's and vice versa.) But yeah, I'm kin to Keer and what he's going through. Morale is: Love Bites.

The otter temporarily adopts a professorial attitude. "Ahem. This may have already been discussed but...the suffix -phasia typically is used to refer to speach disorders, however in this case, Gloria would seem to be using the original Greek word simply meaning speach. Ailouros is the Greek word for cat hence ailurophobes fear or hate cats. *wierdos* Ailourophasia then would mean she speaks like a cat...probably because she is one. Since I don't know the Greek word for bear, the Latin word could be used and thus the bear might name himself Ursophasia...or not. It was your dream after all. Oh, and a rather interesting one at that Elix!"

I certainly empathize with Ciaran here. I mean... here he is alone with Xe in a place where their wildest dreams can come true out of nothing! I can imagine that for Keer, this is the perfect place in the world (or out of it for that matter) to be. Then along comes Twap (whom he INTRODUCED to Xe and who's been the problem all along) and she wants to take him away. Again. All the anger and bitterness he has for Twap for stealing Xe away has culminated. Keer's drawing the line. He's telling Xe "you have to choose between me and her"
I don't blame him either. However, he's chosen a rather inopportune time and place to bring this up. How do you all think this is going to resolve? (if you think it's going to resolve)
